It doesn’t matter what kind of work you do or what you accomplish.
The public accolades are not a reflection of one’s true character.
What matters is how you treat people when no one is watching.
That includes the people you live with behind closed doors.

Great team up between the AAPI ERG's at UP and UNMC this week to celebrate #AAPIHeritageMonth! Loved hearing the stories of family roots that led to Omaha. We are all connected through community! 🌱

Criminalizing addiction with harsher penalties and cutting harm reduction services will lead to costly consequences- not just in taxpayer dollars but in human lives. This is a huge political failure to create effective drug policy reform. We already have one of the highest rates of drug-related incarceration—how will locking up even more people solve anything?

Methadone and buprenorphine are lifesaving treatment for OUD. Yet less than 50% of US psychiatric hospitals offer these treatments.
When people are most vulnerable and seeking help in a crisis, they still are so often not able to access evidence based care where they need it.
Less than half (48%) of psychiatric hospitals provide medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), despite high comorbidity of OUD and mental illness. ja.ma/4hLW7e8

There is nothing wrong with wanting to better yourself.
However, you can’t have such an insatiable need for personal growth that you only fixate on the future.
You can appreciate current blessings and strive for a better tomorrow.
A dose of mindfulness and gratitude can help.
