The biggest opportunity for bootstrappers is everything VCs are ignoring. Spending time in SF, you start to see how high the bar Can you hit $25M+ in two years? That’s the expectation. VCs need massive outcomes. The power law pushes them toward bigger bets, leaving entire categories overlooked. For bootstrappers, that’s an opening. There are great businesses to build in markets that will never excite a venture fund. Too small for their portfolio can still be life-changing for you.

Here’s what the media doesn’t tell you about the caricature of Israel you have in your mind. In less than two hours, over 7 million Jewish Israelis will mark Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. Some will go to synagogue. Some will go to the beach. Nobody will drive unless they have to. Many will not eat or drink for 25 hours, religious or not. Then you have over 2 million Arab Israelis who will go on with their lives as usual. Many will not drive in mixed cities out of respect for their Jewish neighbors. Nobody will drive in Jewish neighborhoods. And the hospitals will only be filled with Arab doctors and nurses to let their Jewish colleagues observe the day at home. (The opposite happens on Ramadan.) Not long ago I went out to run a few last-minute errands before the holiday begins. Every Arab I interacted with – at the dry cleaners, in the supermarket, in the elevator – wished me an easy fast. Every one. It happens every holiday. Any holiday. Their holidays and ours. This is the real Israel. A country filled with Jews and Arabs that get along better than anywhere else on this planet, that nobody shows you because it’s simply not newsworthy. It’s everyday life. To all those who observe – have an easy fast. גמר חתימה טובה

Breaking news on Pulley and public IOI / offer to acquire them: Before you shut down your startup, hand your customers to your biggest competitor, and accept a fraction of the preference stack back as an earn-out… Meessage me first. Pulley had roughly $50M of preferred capital outstanding. The shutdown transaction returns roughly 35–50% of that pref through an earn-out. Which is both tricky to get and hard to enforce. Our offer: $20M CASH at close $50M in MainStreet equity $70M total consideration Founders spend years building companies, products, teams and customer relationships. A failed venture outcome does not automatically mean the business is worthless. Before you wind it down, give away the customer base, or accept whatever recovery is available: Call MainStreet MainStreet dot com we buy companies, assets, IP, customer books and teams. Pulley if there’s still a transaction available, our offer stands. I've never had a CEO ghost me lol. *Unsolicited, non-binding indication of interest. Mid East in a nutshell: Israel is pressured to make concessions as if the Palestinians are good faith actors interested in negotiated peace, while Palestinians are simultaneously allowed to play a zero sum game with the aim of destroying Israel & with no consequences for losing.

Contrast this with my experience. I was a seminary student in Jerusalem on 9/11. Israelis were devastated. There was a makeshift memorial of flowers and candles outside the US consulate. For weeks after, Israelis would hear us speaking English on buses or in the street, ask if we were American, and tell us how sorry they were.
I was a medical student in London when 9/11 happened I went into class the next day assuming everyone would be devastated by it like I was To my surprise I found a significant number of students were actually excited and energised by it. I haven't got over that, 25 years on.

“So do not dare propose that ‘Israel Never Truly Wanted Peace with Palestine’. If anything, we wanted it too much. So now, it is your turn to answer the question: When did you ever truly want peace with the one Jewish state?” (my 10 min speech with English captions from the Oxford Union Debate):
