I usually stay away from unicuspid aortic valve repair but some valves are too nice to replace. This is a neat case of a healthy unicuspid valve that I bicuspidized using raphe reimplantation to convert the unicuspid valve to a Sievers zero bicuspid valve. I'm excited to share our new publication: "Demystifying Autograft Assessment and Implantation During the Ross Procedure." published in @AATSHQ I was fortunate to train with extraordinary surgeons, including Thor Sundt, Duke Cameron, and Darryl Shore. Watching them operate, complex aortic root surgery and the Ross procedure looked almost effortless. Then I started doing it myself. I quickly learned that the hardest part wasn't understanding the operation, it was reproducing the countless technical nuances that expert surgeons execute instinctively. This manuscript grew out of that experience. Through many imperfect operations and constant refinement, I developed a systematic, step-by-step approach to autograft assessment, marking, and implantation designed to make the procedure safer, more reproducible, and easier to teach.
