Pele in @MayfairTimes “I never predicted any of this, I just worked very hard. And I stayed very true to my dreams, my passion and my faith. I want to thank God for having me here, I am blessed that I have been able to touch so many people throughout my life, all over the world”

As I told @MayfairTimes' @jonnywhiley about one of those devastating periods:
❝ For a few months, everything went black, and finally, I understood those desperate moments in which people decide to end their lives. But I knew I had to fight on… ❞

Writing my memoir was an emotional experience: wanting to be as honest as possible meant having to relive some very painful periods.
Those emotions sometimes come out in interviews too, as with this one for December's @MayfairTimes.

Dear Roger,my friend and rival.
I wish this day would have never come. It’s a sad day for me personally and for sports around the world.
It’s been a pleasure but also an honor and privilege to share all these years with you, living so many amazing moments on and off the court 👇🏻
Sad day - Roger is my sporting hero. Watched him play before he became 'Roger' and live at Grand Slams from Australia to New York. First time I saw him live in 2007 - at Wimbledon in the third round - he blew my mind. A poetic force of nature that will be greatly missed.

Until I actually watched a Joe Wicks video, I'd dismissed him as too handsome and buff for me to care about. When I finally saw one, I just ADORED him. We talk about mental illness, poverty, and how my arse might actually be stronger than his.
