Congrats on a great run with a ton of terrific work. I know more will be coming. Looking forward to hearing about what comes next.
Quick professional note:
This is my last week with @chron. I owe a major thank you to the entire Chron crew past + present, as well as Houston’s athletes, coaches, PR staffs, fellow journalists, and, most importantly, readers + followers.
It was a delight covering Houston’s sports scene. Can’t wait to share what’s next, I’ll be back (very) soon 👀
That's great to hear. Congrats!
Hate to hear this. Hard work and excellence should be rewarded, not treated like this, as it has been all too often. I look forward to following wherever your talents take you.
Last week, exactly 10 days before my 5-year anniversary at The Charlotte Observer, my position was eliminated by McClatchy along with 7 of my colleagues.
And it happened less than 48 hours after being told corporate had given the green light to bring back my podcast they whacked two years earlier.
This means the paper of record that has covered the franchise since its inception in 1987 will no longer have a writer dedicated to giving readers the latest daily insight on the team. Training camp starts in two weeks.
During my career in this industry, which has spanned more than 25 years, I've had my share of tough assignments. Following in the footsteps of a legend and someone whose name is permanently affixed to two areas in Spectrum Center ranks right up there.
I'm grateful, thankful and forever humbled that I was the one chosen to take on the huge responsibility. And I'm proud of the content I produced. Every single bit of it, including a recent string of nothing but exclusives.
Thanks to all those who consumed my work and musings about the #Hornets. It's deeply appreciated.
Cheers to what's next.

A great coach and even better person. This pleases me greatly.

Congrats, Chris. Enjoy your well-earned homecoming.
After 8 years covering the Timberwolves, I’m off to my next step — covering the 76ers for the @PhillyInquirer. What a dream opportunity this is, and I’m so excited to cover a memorable time for the 76ers in tandem alongside my friend, the awesome @ginamizell. (Cont…)
Congrats, Will. Looking forward to even more of your coverage here.
LIFE UPDATE: After 10 amazing years (Yes, I'm old) covering the New Orleans Pelicans in my hometown, I'm officially moving to Houston to shift my role and cover the Houston Rockets on a full-time basis for us at @TheAthletic.
I'll still be around covering Pelicans news here and there. But I'm extremely excited and grateful to begin this next phase in my career.
Many congrats, @TimBontemps!

And man, Jalen Brunson authored an incredible sports story. He will be celebrated in New York forever like Willis and Clyde.
The 11-year-old me is thrilled again. The me for most of the past 50 years is stunned to call the Knicks champions. They earned it with an incredible playoff run. The Canyon of Heroes awaits.
After last night, been thinking about the Choke/Clutch City series. With his team shaken, Rudy T decided to pick up his players in the next video session by showing how they built, rather than lost the lead. Brilliant, ballsy move.
Unbelievable. At halftime, I thought we would get two days of analysis that would need two minutes. Now, don't know if two weeks would be enough to figure out this one. Absolutely stunned.
For halftime, MSG favorite Billy Joel might have to come out to sing New York State of Shock.
The sport has changed like crazy, but the Spurs are shooting so well, they made more 3s midway through the 2nd quarter than the Knicks made in the entire series when the teams met in the 99 Finals (11) and are way ahead of the pace to make more than the Spurs made (21).
And KAT has been a revelation, not just for how well he is playing, as the Inside guys are saying, but those were great, revealing, honest on-court interviews.
