I don’t take many calls in our newsroom. But when I do, they’re usually spirited and usually Cyclone Jerry.
Will leave a void for sure.
Cyclone super fan Jerry Haines, better known as "Cyclone Jerry" passes away at the age of 87.
He was a positive light for all.
You can find his obituary below.

More than a couple formative moments throughout my college radio career tie back to interactions with Sean. My first radio job interview, Arch Madness trips, etc.
To whatever’s next, you’re getting a great personality but even better human.
All the best to you.
Earlier today after our show myself as many others were laid off at IHeart Des Moines. I’m not angry or am going to blame anyone…it’s part of the business. You can have good ratings, good revenue etc…Doesn’t matter…your number on that excel sheet can be picked any day.
I sit here proud of my career in radio and proud of what we did at KXnO. I’ve been doing sports talk radio in Des Moines since 2014 and it’s been a hell of a ride with so many people to thank. Des Moines you got to watch me grow up from being a dumb 20 something, getting married, having my first kid, and helping me navigate the passing of my father.
I got to live out a dream and I will be forever thankful. This is all
I’ve ever wanted to do. Thank you the listeners and advertisers. I love you all more than you will ever know.
As for what’s next…No clue… going to take a few days and hang with my wife and son. Love you all and appreciate your support throughout the years. 🙏❤️
It’s no doubt receipts from farmers and agricultural manufacturing play a big role in the #Iowa economy. It’s not particularly often they butt heads, but when they do, it makes for national political attention. More: weareiowa.com/article/news/a….

NEW: The Des Moines School Board will meet tomorrow (Friday) morning in closed session to discuss potential action to be taken against former superintendent Ian Roberts. In part, board chair Jackie Norris says “(DMPS) is facing a different reality than we were last Friday.”
Developing: now-former Des Moines superintendent Ian Roberts has been transferred from ICE custody into DOJ custody on a federal gun charge, according to court docs obtained by Local 5.
He’s facing allegations of being an illegal alien with multiple firearms.
BREAKING: Dr. Ian Roberts’ lawyers say he will be officially resigning his post as superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools following his detainment by ICE officials last week. Live stream of the press conference is available here while it lasts: weareiowa.com
As a caffeine and coffee addict, this story wasn’t the most fun to tell.
But as a radio transplant who’s trying to figure out how to further his video skills, I had a lot of fun putting this package together. Check it out: weareiowa.com/article/money/…
No Iowa Speedway stop for IndyCar in 26.
Thought they may try to reduce to one race, but deciding to skip completely.
“Mr. Street, do you think God loves football?
I think that everybody loves football.”
High school football is back and there’s no place I’d rather be than roaming the sidelines, aiding in Local 5’s Friday Night Blitz coverage.
