No, you stupid fool. The reason the leadership of the Jewish community and decent people who are opposed to anti-Jewish racism ask people not to single out or hold Israel to standards not applied to other countries or make untrue allegations about the world’s only Jewish state is because it results in Jewish people being attacked here in the UK. You should know this.
Britain’s chief Rabbi and his Board of Deputies are Genocide deniers. Now they seek to censor democratic debate in our country, on the basis of what - relationship building? Meaning Jews will be upset if Christians call Israel’s actions Genocide…? As the UN have in their recent report. The ICJ are investigating based on the complaint from South Africa, alleging Genocide and Apartheid (who better to call that last one), Netanyahu is a wanted war criminal, the evidence in front of us is overwhelming in all senses. But here’s thing, forget the G word, just look at the atrocities, committed daily, the vast destruction, the mass starvation, murder and injury, the targeting of aid workers, journalists (and civilians of course) and the targeting of children, the routine sexual abuse of children the UN just reported, the fact that Gaza has the most child amputees in modern history - there’s a terrible, terrible wrong in progress in Palestine and the world is simply watching. And Christians are supposed not to discuss this? The definition of Genocide arose after the second world war, for good reason. It’s used in relation to Israel and Palestine for good reason. But remove that word from the conversation and you still get the most abominable behaviour by a state on a civilian population, on an ethnic group - possibly since the second world war - certainly the longest running. Arguing about the legal definition of Genocide as pro Israeli voices do, or arguing that a court needs to make a ruling before we can call it - that’s perverse. Does the chief Rabbi have no moral code?

Concerns over a godlike AI killing us all are probably over-hyped. Concerns that AI far short of AGI/ASI will concentrate power in the hands of bad people are probably under-hyped.
If it were true that advanced AI will pose a serious threat to the continued existence of humanity, how would the world look today? What evidence would you expect to be seeing?

One of my life goals is to learn enough math and physics to really follow Urs Schreiber's work but his ability to invent far outpaces my capacity to keep up. The small fraction I can grok still blows my mind.

Over the next couple of years we will either rediscover Cybernetics as part of the AI revolution, or people will reinvent vast parts of it, thinking it's new terrain. #cybernetics (Apologies to original author of this image - I lost track of the cite)

Found my high school era neural net and genetic algorithm experiments from high school circa 1992. Foundations were there - just had to wait a few decades for compute to catch up!

Me surprised to discover that Maimonides had a deadpan sense of humor appropriate for 21st century Twitter

Some great end of year reading. Holding to my prediction that quantum linguistics will be one of the first successful areas for meaningful quantum computing applications. @coecke

My big problem with @QuantinuumQC is that they keep inventing amazing new things much faster than I can learn them.
Huge congratulations to the @QuantinuumQC research team based in Oxford who have uploaded a noteworthy paper breaking new ground for photonics based quantum computing and creating a vital bridge between photonic and matter based quantum computing. arxiv.org/abs/2306.02114

I love my city
New York subways banned dogs from traveling unless they fit into a bag. They never said the bag had to be small. Excellent job New York people!! 🎉

Runner up because it’s a bit more specialized than the others is Gentle Introduction to Dependent Types in Idris by @BSitnikovski . in particular the first half of the book going from zero through dependent type theory is A+ work.
