Big day for the @TNE_LAB! We officially started our collaboration with industrial partner BionIT Labs (a rising star in the field of bionics with their @Adams_Hand_) to work on integrating thermal feedback in future prosthetic hands!
Huge thanks to the @EPFL Technology transfer office and the Enable grant for supporting us.
With @_smicera, @JonathanMuheim @Neuro_X_EPFL

ALT The loss of rich sensory inputs has a major impact on the quality of life of amputees, leading to debilitating levels of phantom limb pain and the abandonment of their prostheses. The TNE Lab recently developed a method to restore temperature sensations in upper-limb amputees. The participants could perceive objects at different temperatures, made of various materials, and recognize the warmth of someone’s hand. This project seeks to improve the current research prototype for home use.

"Thrilled to announce my new joint assistant professorship at @UniSR (Milano) and @ScuolaSantAnna (Pisa)! Honored to join both communities and the fantastic @MINE_Neurotech. I will work closely with the clinical teams at San Raffaele Hospital to advance sensorimotor neurotechnologies (with a sensory twist 😉).
Stay tuned for more updates! #NewChapter #Neurotech

How do you know if something is wet/dry? Humans have no dedicated sensor for humidity. Instead, we rely -mainly- on thermal cues.
Do the test: sit on a cold bench, your first reaction is: The bench is Wet!
