What an atmosphere at Manchester Arena today for the ice hockey. They had 11,000 people turn up to watch @Mcr_Storm in a game with goals and fights! Great way to spend an afternoon

Watching the new series of #Reacher on @PrimeVideo and, oh my days… Hobocop… what a line! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If that wasn’t in the book (I don’t remember it), someone deserves a pay rise.

I don't think it's controversial to say that much of the commentary around Jason Arday was gleefully cruel and largely pointless. Reporting from what I saw of it was mostly fine, but the columnist/commentator culture in Britain has been troubled for some time.

It’s not a test and it’s not an invasion. It’s as serious as it gets in terms of a job I’ve done (and still do) for 34 years. Conditions have never been as bad, resources have never been so badly needed. People still using disposable BBQs and dropping cigarettes. I’m glad this got the reaction it has done. Hopefully people take note. 🔥🚒🚨

The millstone is an iconic symbol of the Peak District; so much so that ornamental versions grace pretty much every road into the national park. There is evidence of quarrying for millstones in this area since 1257, and they were produced for many centuries afterwards. This lovely collection rests amid the bracken in the gritstone foothills of Stanage Edge, with a view over to the hills of the Hope Valley, glowing golden in the last light of yet another sunny day. 📍 Peak District, England

“I am damned if I am going to stand on a stage… and be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies.” Nigel Farage tonight, refusing to attend his own Clacton election declaration. “Nobodies.” Just ordinary British citizens who exercised exactly the same democratic right to stand for Parliament that Nigel Farage did. For years he’s told us he’s the anti-establishment champion of ordinary people. And then, when ordinary people have the temerity to appear on the same ballot paper as him, they’re beneath him. I think that tells us rather more about Nigel Farage than tonight’s result ever could.
"I am damned if I am going to stand on a stage, having won a resounding victory... and be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies," Nigel Farage says With votes still to be counted he claims victory, but says he won't attend the Clacton declaration Live: bbc.in/4i7OjG3

Contrary to Nigel Farage's claim in the video, Essex Police did not advise him not to attend the Clacton count. bbc.co.uk/news/live/c5y4… irishtimes.com/world/uk/2026/…

34 days ago we received the first call to what became a major incident. Firefighters have grafted 24/7 to get on top of this job and today we sent the ‘STOP’ message 👍Everyone at GM🚒, Fire Control, partner agencies have pulled together to get us to this point thank you so much.

Delighted to have been given the opportunity to interview Hugh Cornwell for the August edition of Derbyshire lifestyle magazine Reflections. It was great to chat to Hugh about his time with The Stranglers, his solo career, and his upcoming Peak District gig.

The Mirror NUJ Chapel would like to pay tribute to the printers past and present who have produced the paper at our historic Watford print site. Sadly, the presses have stopped there for the final time

Yes, I'm part of the deep state and I made up the idea of contempt of court last night. I've been rumbled, lads. Sorry.
This "prejudice the trial" bullshit is a new narrative to silence everyone. If theres irrefutable forensic evidence, it makes no difference.
