Now this is just me, but I don’t think the era and aesthetics of literal baby boomers are congruent with a “fresh” or “innovative” adaptation.
I will watch and I have some faith in Gerwig, but this looks quite bad.
1. This will make excellent Advent reading.
2. I absolutely heard the British pronunciation of “Isaiah” in my head when I read this.
I’d like to introduce you to my next book, Into the Heart of Isaiah. In this book I ask: What does Isaiah have to do with Jesus, Paul, the resurrection, and the first century Christians? Quite a lot, it turns out. I encourage you to pre-order here:

Grateful to hear @TheAlanNoble telling our @Westmont students today that our very existence is a real and demonstrable good, which we have a duty of embrace and affirm.

your homunculus will never be ensouled bro, stop showing the pope your homonculus, he doesn't like it
NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV’s AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah’s team then privately lobbied the pope’s advisers “to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.” Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-…
This is not a persuasive case for the theatre.

Speaking and writing are the means by which you clarify your ideas/judgments. Your ideas/judgments are not magically outside of language. In searching for the right expression or formulation of ideas, we are developing and refining them.
This one hurts.
This is unbelievable, approaching parody.

This happens in poetry/lit mag more than anyone wants to talk about.
The Gospel Coalition published a piece using New Mexico Hispanos as a metaphor for Christian endurance in a time of shifting ideological borders.
Total Chicano cultural victory.
What do we do in a world where the borders are whizzing back and forth overhead?

I am curious to see the greater context of this quotation, as Dr. Esolen knows better than most that the same power which “is power to do what it wills” is identical with “the love that moves the sun and other stars.”

“We would all benefit from getting out of the AI-detection business because it damages trust between faculty and students.”
I might go still further and ask this dean to "embody" a person who is no longer dean
Black Latinos had a historical presence in the Plaza that became Olvera Street, through the 19th century “Calle de Los Negros” and the area’s most prominent citizen, Pío Pico. There are some ahistorical—and risky—assumptions in this take.
Reading Wendell Berry always leaves me equally annoyed, awed, and convicted. American letters will miss his singular and prophetic voice. Requiescat in pace.
