Jamal Roberts is the third SEC running back in the past 20 years with consecutive 200-yard rushing games against FBS teams.
He's in good company. The others? Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette 🏈

As a freshman he carried the ball one time and lost a yard.
He spent the next three years as a backup.
Today he ran for 211 yards and three touchdowns against the number eight team in the country.
His name is Jamal Roberts. He grew up in St. Louis and played at St. Mary's High School, where he ran for 1,899 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior and was named his class offensive player of the year in the state of Missouri.
Then he went to the Missouri Tigers and disappeared.
In 2023 he got into two games. One carry. Negative one yard. He redshirted.
In 2024 he carried it 53 times for 216 yards.
In 2025 he was the backup to Ahmad Hardy, who got 256 carries to his 124. Roberts was not buried exactly. He played 423 snaps to Hardy's 465, and he averaged 6.1 yards a carry for 753 yards.
He was just never the guy.
By last December the question had become public. Local headlines were openly asking whether Missouri could talk him out of the transfer portal. He was a productive back stuck behind an All-American, which in 2026 is the exact profile of a player who leaves.
The portal opened on January 2.
On January 1 he re-signed with Missouri.
He later said the decision had not taken him long, because he had already made it.
"I started a legacy here. I built my foundation here, and I just want to finish it. I didn't want go anywhere. I wanted to stay home."
Understand what that meant at the time he said it. He was not re-signing to be the starter. The All-American was still there. He was choosing to stay and be the backup again.
Today was Homecoming in Columbia. The Florida Gators came in ranked eighth in the country. Missouri was ranked twenty fifth.
Roberts carried it 24 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
Late in the third quarter he broke one for 77 yards and Missouri scored on the drive that followed. In the fourth he took one 80 yards to the end zone by himself.
After the 77 yard run he turned to the crowd and waved his hand up and down, asking a stadium that had watched three years of losses to good teams to finally let it out.
Missouri won 45-17. It is the program's first regular season win over a top ten team since 2013.
Be honest about the other side of this. It is one game, and he has been ordinary for stretches of this season. And the math on staying usually runs the other way. For every player who turns down the portal and gets a day like this, there are a lot who turn it down and spend another year watching, and nobody writes about them.
But he is 24 carries into the best afternoon of his life, in his home state, in front of a crowd that waited three years to make that noise.
One carry. Minus one yard. That was the whole first chapter.
He just did not feel like finishing it somewhere else.

Mike you’re an idiot! Baugh had 600 yards last week so you clearly haven’t updated this with his stats from the Mizzou game.
