If you know you’re going to cut payroll, then you’re going to be more dependent on the drafting and development of talent. Why would you bring back Mike Hazen and Torey Lovullo to oversee that type of organization and roster? Both have absolutely brutal track records. The D-Backs farm was SO bad that they couldn’t make a meaningful deal at the deadline while their peers made multiple.
