Czech leaders are now openly preparing for the possibility of a Russian attack on NATO’s eastern flank. PM Andrej Babiš and President Petr Pavel discussed the scenario “very specifically” and confirmed Czechia would fulfil its Article 5 obligations if a Baltic state were attacked. The issue is expected to go before Czechia’s State Security Council on 20 October. Czech intelligence chief Michal Koudelka has separately warned that Russia could attempt a limited incursion or other test of NATO within months Czech authorities say: “Of course, we would be ready to act.”
