The most violent hit I ever witnessed on a football field happened in Syracuse Week, 2005. The person wasn't even in pads. But that wasn't even the strangest thing that happened that week. 6 memories from that week – and 4 you've never heard. (1/9)

6. Coach Groh was always borrowing lines from authors, movies and musicians. After the game, he was asked what he was thinking on that fourth down. His reply: "Are you familiar with the movie 'Risky Business'? What the heck?" (8/9)

The only time I’ve ever feared for my life at a sporting event was at a West Virginia football game. The year before I went to UVA, I played football at Fork Union Military Academy. Midseason, we traveled to Morgantown to face West Virginia’s JV team on a Thursday morning. The night before, we went to the Virginia Tech game at West Virginia, all of us wearing our military uniforms. One problem: our coach was wearing a maroon jacket. The West Virginia fans took one look at us and decided we were with Virginia Tech. Then West Virginia pulled off a massive upset, stunning No. 3 Virginia Tech, 28-7. The loss knocked Virginia Tech out of national title contention and changed the trajectory of its season. The Hokies had opened 6-0, but finished 2-5 over their final seven games, including a 35-21 loss at UVA on November 29. Most people remember the game for Frank Beamer slapping Ernest Wilford on the helmet. I remember the West Virginia fans. It was wild. We were screamed at. Things were thrown at us. Midway through the fourth quarter, we started filing out and needed a police escort back to our buses. For the first and only time at a sporting event, I genuinely feared for my physical safety. As we drove to our hotel, we could see the infamous couches burning in the streets. The next morning, we played West Virginia’s JV team. And won. I’ve always suspected we had one decisive advantage: we had actually gone to sleep the night before. And to this day, whenever I see that Flying WV, I can still see the smoke from those couches. Go Hoos. 🔶⚔️🔷 @forkunion @FUMAPGFootball

On this day in 2010 JMU went to Blacksburg and stunned #13 Virginia Tech in a 21-16 upset over the Hokies.

We’ve been working quietly behind the scenes on Shenandoah Sanctuary, and I’m incredibly excited to finally share a small glimpse of what we’re building. The vision is to create something that redefines the mountain stay experience — mirrored cabins, luxury treehouses, and nature-forward design that blend into the landscape instead of competing with it. A place to disconnect, reset, and experience the mountains in a completely different way. Big thanks to Jake for helping bring the concept to life with this teaser. Check it out –
