Research shows that Atlantic cod are big fans of reefs.

I hope the other European countries support the idea of protecting the reefs.

In 2017, we deployed boulder reefs in southern Denmark.
Tim Wilms is now visiting the area using hundreds of underwater cameras.
The recordings indicate that Atlantic cod favor the reefs over our control areas.
I hope we can restore habitats for this threatened fish.
SUPERFLEX is a collective working with an expanding idea of art.
Now, they head for the marine environment - and they plan to create 55 square kilometers of coastal reefs in Danish waters.

A lot of people are doing river restoration in Denmark. These volunteers are doing a huge job to enable sustainable fisheries -- and their efforts support local economies by more than US$ 1.000.000.
Here's a great article about it:

We are trying to catch Atlantic cod at North Sea platforms.
The goal is to address some of the questions listed here: nora.nerc.ac.uk/id/eprint/52…
To what degree is a platform in the North Sea a valuable marine habitat?
Politicians and NGOs are debating:

We decided to investigate the topic.
We will examine fish near platforms over the coming weeks.

#dkpol #dkgreen

Recently, we showed that even very small riverine barriers cause problems for fish.
Barriers can exert selective effects on morphological, physiological and behavioural traits and cause shifts in community composition.
Conclusion: remove barriers.

Check out this cool little vid about a recent @DTUCoastalEco collaboration. We tagged, released + tracked 60 trout smolts in Roskilde fjord to investigate the role of predators (e.g. birds, seals) on these fish. See here for some of the results: youtube.com/watch?v=6Qx2qBwi…

You'll be tracking big fish near an offshore platform in the North Sea.

The goal is to provide an understanding of the role that offshore platforms are playing for fish populations and fisheries.
⚠️#telemetry & #fishsci PhD position available @DTUtweet with @JonCSvendsen looking at fish #movement and habitat use around offshore platforms in the North Sea - check it out and share widely!! 🐟🤓

Interested in marine reefs?
Here's an invitation for a seminar on the use, and misuse, of artificial reefs.
A main focus will be concrete reefs in the context of biodiversity, fisheries, coastal protection and offshore windfarms.

This is important.
We are already dealing with the unfortunate consequences for our brown trout tagged in the Roskilde Fjord in Denmark.
I am buying transmitters from Thelma Biotel in Norway this year. Their transmitters are not encrypted. thelmabiotel.com/
#compatibility is necessary for #telemetry networks to deliver good science, and for the greater management & conservation of #aquatic species 🦈🐟🦞. We've created a video to explain just how important this issue is, and the repercussions it may have.
