March is coming, temperatures will rise, and Putin will have burned billions on yet another failed winter campaign to freeze Ukrainians into submission.
It’s a recycled page from the Kremlin playbook, and once again, it hasn’t worked.
Step back and look at the whole picture: this is not the position of a leader winning a war.

Had Ukraine not believed the so-called “security assurances” from the U.S., Russia, and the U.K. under the Budapest Memorandum, we wouldn’t be watching two aging men — one a dictator, the other president and friend of dictators and terrorists — treating our country’s future like a poker chip on the negotiating table.
The lesson is brutal but clear: never trade your defenses for paper promises. Those promises expire the moment they become inconvenient for the guarantors.
