It so simple, but weirdly hard to understand for the Ai bros. Ai in this context, gamedev and art in general, is theft.Plain and simple. In my opinion valve has to do all lot more against ai and the flot of all "slop" games. (1/?)
Tim Sweeney is criticizing Valve again over Steam’s requirement for developers to disclose their use of generative AI. The Epic Games CEO called the policy “abhorrent,” arguing that developers are being forced to make a “political statement” that could be used against them by a “hate mob.” Sweeney has been criticizing the policy since 2025, previously comparing the disclosure to a “Scarlet Letter” and arguing that AI will eventually be part of almost every game production process.

If not you wont find any "real" games anymore. I would argue it is already too late, because of the lack of real quality control. Steam is not a perfect plattform, but still the best for pc gaming. (2/2)

He needs to let it go, but he just can't. If Gabe's life were a sitcom, Tim would be the annoying next door neighbor, always trying to challenge him to something stupid. "Hey Gabe - my platform is way faster!!" "Uh huh, that's nice, Tim" "I bet I can hold my breath longer!!" "I scuba dive, Tim." "I'll do it right now -- 1-2-3[turns into a blue puffer fish]" "You don't look so good, Tim, want me to call a doctor for you?"

Last year anyone who predicted and warned us to prepare for the impact of fully AI-generated games was met with derision and abuse. Now in late 2026 we've entered the clone and decomp slopocalypse *things will continue to progress*
AI “vibe coding” is starting to create a serious problem for the video game industry. The release of Claude Opus 5.5 has made it much easier to decompile and recompile games, leading to a wave of unofficial ports, mods and game clones. Publishers are already filing DMCA takedowns over some of this activity. Kotaku Former Take-Two AI chief Luke Dicken says developers and publishers need to take the trend seriously: “This new wave of decompile-and-port is definitely something that developers and publishers need to take seriously.” “More invasive DRM, platform-level solutions, and probably more of a push towards streaming solutions.” Godot executive director Emilio Coppola puts more responsibility on platforms such as Steam, arguing that developers have very few ways to protect themselves while bad actors can profit from selling AI-made clones: “The burden should fall onto the platforms who are enabling this sort of behavior.” There’s also a growing concern among indie developers about showing unfinished games publicly. Coppola says he has heard from developers who are now: “Worried and anxious to even share early access versions of their games”

They're doing the thing again where they talk about politics being in games in the most general sense to excuse why modern politics in the most specific and strictest sense keeps being forcefully included into our games.
Cliff Bleszinski, the creator of Gears of War, has responded to people saying the series should “keep politics out of games.” He points to the original Gears lore, arguing that the series was already dealing with political and social themes long before Gears of War: E-Day. He specifically mentions the COG’s breeding farms, where women were forcibly impregnated to help produce more soldiers, the Berserker being a female Locust, and the disturbing ways the Locust reproduce.

Wow, that in-game politics, not real world politics. Two different things. You could say that with the original Star Wars, or Star Trek. But it was fictional politics.

How long before they start limiting visibility because a publisher slides them a check? How long til they block access because people are criticizing the wrong game? What a shit move, basically throwing SteamDB in to an actively burning dumpster.
Nexus Mods has acquired SteamDB. The site’s creator @thexpaw is stepping away after burning out from years of running it. He looked for a team he could hand the project over to, but never found anyone he fully trusted. SteamDB will stay SteamDB for now, but over time, Nexus Mods will be slowly integrated in the site.

This was the most popular at least on youtube and one of my favorite ones to animate/model the scene. Dusknoir was fun to animate and the only reason why I haven't really animated him again is cause I couldn't find audio that worked as well as this #pmd

WTF is this, gaslighting now?! “It’s complicated” — people’s favorite playbook for preventing any real debate. Well, explain to us: why is it complicated? We’ve been trying to publicly debate this industry for over a year now. These people lie to the Senate, meet the Commission at invite-only dinners, and publish misleading articles but never once have they addressed their own community directly. There’s a mismatch between how a dialogue is supposed to work and how it’s actually working right no

18 today! I'm so grateful for all the opportunities I've had as a direct result of how much you liked this silly toon. I wouldn't have what I have or get to do what I do without this show, all the brilliant people who have worked on it, and your support. Thank you again.
