The Cowboys hiring Mike Pettine as a consultant is a BIG clue into where CP wants to take this defense.
Pettine is one of the NFL’s foremost experts on Mug fronts and simulated pressure. In Week 5, Dallas showed a double-mug look on 100% of 3rd-and-5-to-10 situations. Weeks 1–4? Only once (week 4).
That’s a clear shift in approach. Now they’ve brought in a guy who knows this world inside and out.
Here’s Pettine breaking down Cover 0 pressure and the philosophy behind it. 👇

BREAKING: The Cowboys are adding veteran defensive mind Mike Pettine to help Christian Parker.
Pettine brings years of experience running multiple fronts, disguising pressure and building aggressive defensive game plans. His résumé includes defenses that finished 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th in total defense during different coordinator stops.
The biggest part of this move? Pettine helped give Christian Parker his first NFL opportunity, and now the teacher is coming in to help the student through his first season calling a defense.
This isn’t about replacing Parker. It’s about giving him another experienced set of eyes in the room.
Now the question is simple…
Can Pettine help Dallas clean up the run defense, create more pressure and finally get this defense playing faster?

Here’s our angle of a worker — either stadium employee or valet car driver — calling out Dak Prescott and the Cowboys performance, with Dak’s reaction which he said was prompted by the man looking away after saying the criticisms. #dallascowboys #nfl
