I’ve used this account for various things over the years, but I have decided to pay for a blue tick because I was upset while away in Vietnam to speak to a very thoughtful and sane retired Canadian couple who genuinely thought the UK is kind of lawless. This is because of lying, usually right wing engagement farmers who clearly hate the UK, running it down. So I am going to do the little I can to add some reality.

This is utterly bonkers. How can one person (and presumably one producer) cover such an enormous brief. Education and social affairs are the things that affect millions of normal people. I am not a BBC basher, but how on earth does the corporation think this is public service?
NEW: BBC will no longer have a dedicated education editor as part of proposal that will see 100 jobs go across BBC News.
School leaders call the plan “deeply regrettable” and ask for a rethink.
Education/Social affairs editor jobs being combined.

An important part of defeating the racism emerging at both political extremes is to unite people of good will from across the political spectrum. The Left are going to have to learn that. The battle against prejudice can't be subject to a party card purity test.

I think reparations and ensuring families don’t remain refugees is right. But let me give you an example of why an exact right of return doesn’t work. My family built a house in Poland. When the Soviets conquered Lwow and made it Ukrainian Lviv they nationalised the home and our factory. We have never been compensated and I could imagine financial compensation. But I don’t expect to return to Ukraine or to live in a house now occupied by a restauranteur and his young family. To get the house back would upset the entire property system of Eastern and Central Europe. And I don’t expect to become a Ukrainian resident either. So we move on, and try to create peace and safety in these new circumstances. And that is what needs to happen in Israel and Palestine.

🚨 WATCH: Kemi Badenoch accuses Reform UK of debating "whether my mixed race children are English"

Nothing less than a total ban on ALL surrogacy arrangements will do. It is pure sadism:

God, is it possible I will vote Tory??
Kemi Badenoch tells Sky’s @BethRigby she rejects "rhetoric" that could make her mixed-race children feel they're "not a part of this country" as she responds to Reform MP Suella Braverman's controversial comments saying she does not consider herself English.
'I am not interested in this endless conversation of trying to split people into lots of boxes,' the Conservative leader says.

Anyone whose critique of a concept includes the fact that a word is “made-up” reveals themselves to be a moron.
“Racism” is a made-up word used by the enemies of Western civilisation to pathologise preference for one’s own nation - an instinct as natural, normal, and Christian as preference for one’s own family.
At least out-and-out Leftists tell you what they believe. Conservatives like Tim Stanley cannot help but disguise their liberalism in the language of patriotism and faith.
That is why they are the worst enemies of all.

It comes down to this.
To even have a HOPE of pretending your motion isn’t antisemitic, you accept this amendment. Obviously.
It was instead rejected twice. First in a pre-conference meeting on amendments, then by party members in the hall.
This is now what the Green Party is.
I’m confused.
Greens for Palestine, who proposed the motion that Zionism is racism, tell #TimesRadio that if a person is a Zionist, they aren’t a racist as it relates to disciplinary matters.

Communism hasn’t been tried properly…
The original sin of Brexit was not allowing Vote Leave to own the project after victory.
In wrestling power from the people who won the referendum, insane internal machinations within the Parliamentary Conservative Party prevented those who campaigned for the outcome from delivering that outcome.
From the start the whole project was decapitated.
And so here we are now, ten years on, having repealed precious little EU law, pursuing no supply side reform, indeed still building a £125m bat tunnel in order that HS2 abide by the retained EU Habitats Directive.
For the best part of a decade the political class stole the victory from the people.
And now they have the temerity to say their own failure is actually the fault of the people for wanting an independent country.

THE OFFICIAL HARD-RIGHT GUIDE TO WINNING ANY ARGUMENT
Do you support the hard right, but struggle to think of original ways to insult people who disagree with you?
Are you tired of people responding with irritating things like “evidence”, “context” and “what does that actually mean?”
Don’t worry. Memorise these simple responses and you’ll never need to construct an argument again.
1. “Check his hard drive.”
The nuclear option. Someone has expressed an opinion you dislike, so simply imply they’re a paedophile. No evidence required. If challenged, say “bit defensive, mate 👀”.
2. “Groomer.”
Similar to Step 1, but more versatile. Works particularly well when you have absolutely nothing relevant to say.
3. “Okay, Jew.”
Don’t worry about whether the person is actually Jewish. That would require knowing something about them. If they’re white, disagree with you and you’ve run out of logical responses, just throw in some casual antisemitism and enjoy the completely imaginary sense of intellectual superiority it provides.
4. “Who funds you?”
Ideal when someone presents inconvenient facts. Rather than addressing them, suggest a mysterious global conspiracy is paying them to disagree with you. Makes paranoia sound like investigative journalism.
5. “NPC.”
Your opponent has used an argument you’ve heard before. This proves they cannot think for themselves. Unlike you, who is currently working through this list.
6. “Soy boy / beta / cuck.”
Useful when confronted by a man who displays empathy, maintains a basic personal hygiene routine or has successfully maintained a relationship with a woman.
7. “Libtard.”
Why waste time explaining where somebody’s argument is wrong when you can combine a political label with an insult and declare victory?
8. “Woke mind virus.”
The Swiss Army knife. “Woke” can mean almost anything you dislike, so there’s absolutely no need to define it. If somebody asks what specifically was woke, just repeat “woke mind virus” and add 😂😂😂.
Congratulations. 🎓
You are now fully equipped for online political debate.
Remember the golden rule: never attack the argument when you can attack the person, and never explain your position when three words and a laughing emoji will do.

How?
Exclusive:
Hundreds of thousands of young people with mild ADHD, anxiety and depression should be given immediate support instead of being left to languish on NHS waiting lists and becoming “trapped in the benefits system”, a government review will recommend
Alan Milburn, the former Labour health secretary who is leading a review into youth unemployment, will recommend next month that people with lower levels of need should be given counselling services or online support instead of waiting for months or even years for a formal diagnosis
He told The Times that offering immediate help for people with mild conditions would reduce NHS waiting lists for people with more severe conditions who needed more intensive support and interventions. It would also help to end the “vicious cycle” of milder mental health problems being exacerbated by long waits and the fact that people are not in work
The report will say that this change in approach should be backed up by a maximum waiting time for access to child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), which assess and treat people up to the age of 18. Campaigners have long argued that it is unfair that the NHS has set demanding targets to reduce waiting times for physical health conditions but not for mental health
The number of children with a referral to mental health services reached over a million in 2024-25, almost double the 564,000 in 2018-19, and 35 per cent were still waiting for treatment at the end of the year and more than 60,000 had been waiting more than two years
One in five of those who are not in education, training or employment now cite a mental health condition as their primary health condition, more than double the rate of a decade ago
Milburn told The Times: “Too many young people with more mild mental health problems are needlessly stuck on an NHS waiting list often seeking a diagnosis
“While they are waiting too many end up not working and then end up trapped in the benefits system. It becomes a vicious cycle. That’s bad for them because there is clear evidence of the beneficial impact of employment on people’s mental health
“But it is also bad for people with more severe conditions, who need the kind of intensive treatment and support the NHS can provide. They risk having to wait longer on lengthening waiting list.
“The evidence demonstrates that young people with milder or emerging conditions would be far better off getting counselling services in their community or online support
“This would mean that more intensive treatment can be focused on people who could most benefit from it. It would enable the government to set a maximum waiting time for CAMHS services.”
