I commend @CAgovernor and the Legislature for taking action to strengthen and protect Californiaās Film and Television Tax Credit.
I was proud to co-author Californiaās film tax credit expansion during my time in the Legislature, and I urge further action to make the program even more robust in the near futureāincluding considering removing the cap and expanding eligibility to include meaningful above-the-line costs.
The film and television industry is critical to the economic and cultural future of California, and we must continue fighting to support this vital industry.

Simply put, Dolly Parton was an American original. She was an inspiration to millions. She was a relentless advocate for women and for equality. Through her Imagination Library, she placed the gift of reading into the hands of millions of children because she understood literacy is the foundation of opportunity.
But perhaps most importantly, Dolly treated everyone with kindness and respect. She lived her values with a flair and vitality for life that was uniquely her own. She was a trailblazer in every sense of the word, and she will be missed by millions around the world.
Jill and I are keeping her family, her friends, and her millions of fans in our prayers.

Dolly Parton spent decades quietly funding band uniforms and instruments at Black high schools across the South - never once putting her name on it. No headlines, no fanfare ā just help, given because it was needed.

An apt day to remember that Dolly Parton once recorded a cover of Stairway to Heaven - and, in defiance of every moral law in the universe, she absolutely owned it.

One of the all-time great Rock Hall moments: Dollyās āJoleneā with Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Pat Benatar, Annie Lennox, Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), Pink, and Sheryl Crow. Zac Brown Band held it down as the house band.
Rest easy, Dolly š¤

I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.

Itās hard to imagine many people having a bigger impact than Dolly Parton. Born in a one-room cabin, she earned 11 Grammys and an Emmy, built a business empire, helped millions of kids learn to read, and ā as if that wasnāt enough ā helped accelerateĀ the research that led to the Moderna COVID vaccine. What a life. Michelle and I are thinking of Dollyās family and her many, many fans.
