An 87 win team that scored baseball's fewest runs in September lost to a 93 win team, who had the home field advantage and the best pitcher in the AL going it's all but impossible to get any real analysis out of 2 games of baseball, but sometimes it's just that, too.

My unpopular opinion for Game 1 was that I thought there was a defense for bringing in Miller yesterday considering Rice doesn't hit sinkers as well as four-seamers. I'm not sure I understand this one.

A favorite game of some people with the Red Sox is unwinding threads of transactions and thinking about how different roster construction could be. I'm guessing that thought exercise comes from feeling like it's been years of missing out on the Plan A guys. Story for another day.

Obviously Crochet was amazing in 2025, but it is fascinating to think of a world in which the Sox outbid the Yankees and didn't have to give up Teel/Meidroth/Montgomery.

Since the Yankees outbid the Red Sox for Max Fried, he's pitched against the Sox 6 times. 36.1 IP, 5 ER, 13 BB, 41 K, 1.24 ERA, 28% K% That includes last year in the playoffs when he went 6.1 shutout innings. Another crack at him tonight.

 Reinstated right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck from the 60-Day Injured List, who will start today’s game against the Chicago Cubs.

 Placed catcher/first baseman Mickey Gasper on the 10-Day Injured List (retroactive to September 26) with a right biceps strain.

 Placed right-handed pitcher Tyron Guerrero on the 15-Day Injured List (retroactive to September 24) with a right shoulder strain.
