The Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin has just appeared in a campaign video for Putinβs United Russia party.
The Russian hockey player stands right behind Putinβs main propagandist Margarita Simonyan when Foreign Minister Lavrov gives a speech justifying the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
He also participated in a photo shoot for the same campaign together with Russian soldiers and individuals sanctioned for their complicity in the war against Ukraine.
Mr @hasek_dominik, could you please share your excellent opinion once again on Russians participating in Western sports events?

Gotta say, as someone who did this for the early parts of my career... Can't agree with this. If that was the case, why even be a professional athlete? No competitor wants to sit on the side their entire career.
Tom Brady reveals the overlooked reason practice squad players never succeed in the NFL
Itβs not a lack of talent.
Brady watched it happen for 20 years. The pattern was undeniable.
As soon as a practice squad player got promoted and had to perform under real pressure, they crumbled. It took years for Brady to understand why.
βThereβs 53 guys on the active roster and thereβs now 15 guys on the practice squad. So thereβs 68 players. But those practice squad players are important because if anybody on the active roster gets hurt, they can get elevated to the squad.β
βThese scout team receivers would come in and practice with the scout team and they do really well. And Iβd be watching. Iβm like, βMan, we got to get that guy. Letβs get him up on offense. Heβs making a lot of plays.ββ
βThen all of a sudden, weβre like, βHey man, youβre doing really well. You got to come over here and deal with the pressure of succeeding now that you have expectation.ββ
βAnd these guys are like, they werenβt prepared for it. So whatever we saw in practice against where there was not a lot of pressure, now when theyβre put in a situation where thereβs an expectation for performance, theyβve never had to personally deal with that and then they fail.β
βAnd then what I realized was a lot of guys on those practice squads, they donβt want to be elevated to the roster.β
βTheyβre very happy living this life where they could tell their family and friends, which I have no problem with that. But the reality is a lot of guys donβt want the pressure of dealing with top.β
Twenty years in the league and seven Super Bowl rings later, Brady learned that talent wasnβt the hardest thing to find.
It was people who actually wanted the pressure that comes with being great.

Worth noting that the D.C. Council is considering a bill that would cap ticket resale prices on platforms like StubHub, which has been lobbying against the measure.
StubHub is launching βAccess: D.C.β which is a new $100,000 initiative to give free tickets to concerts, sports and theater events to youth groups across DC. Coaches, teachers and community leaders can nominate groups starting today.

Metro's New Plan for the Washington Commanders Stadium
Metro General Manager Randy Clarke wants to expand the existing Stadium Armory station to handle large crowds for Washington Commanders games, but says a new Oklahoma Ave station isn't feasible.
Iβm going to need @BenStandig or @JPFinlayNBCS or @john_keim to have @wmataGM on one of their podcasts to dig into this, please! I think we all assumed that station would need to be improved/expandedβwasnβt that part of the expected cost of the project?
BREAKING-Metro is NOT recommending building a new station at the RFK site for a new Commanders Stadium. But the transit agency warns, if major improvements arenβt made to the existing station, fans could be waiting 2+ hours for trains and buses after events. @nbcwashington #wmata
I just heard @JPFinlayNBCS on @BeltwayFootball ask βare we sure Fanatics doesnβt suck?β
Not sure where you have been with this; Fanatics is HORRIBLE. They are a deeply incompetent apparel manufacturer that somehow convinced the leagues to give them monopoly access. ππΌππΌ
