Incredible stat that.
The HSR bridge is not expensive, just 6.9 billion RMB, roughly 1.5 days of US military spending on Iran war. Without war, the world would be much, much better.

It was a really beautiful testament to the human spirit that during a global pandemic we all turned against each other, abandoned the environment, and decided to price gouge everyone

im genuinely intolerant of religion like in a way that even progressives probably think is problematic. you have this made up idea of existence from a story book and you reject the reality of the world around you to the point of hate and violence. while looking stupid as fuck
Several Giants players wrote Bible verses on their caps to respond to Pride Night. The gesture echoed a familiar pattern: making a night meant for inclusion about something else entirely. Read more for free, from @GrantBrisbee: nyti.ms/3Q23q8J

It is so powerful to watch tens of thousands of Bosnians – whose people survived genocide – marching the streets of Toronto, supporting Palestinians – who are currently fighting to survive genocide. #EndTheGenocide #FreePalestine

Iran’s terms to end the war: 1. Give Iran its own money back 2. Tell Israel to stop attacking Lebanon (and mean it) Some rather extreme demands there, no wonder Trump can’t find a way to a deal.
Iran has announced the end of its current wave of retaliatory strikes against Israel. Trump again claims negotiations are proceeding. Iran has maintained it is open to a deal and says it is Trump who has prevented it for the past 3 weeks. The current focus for Iran centers on two primary issues: Ending the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and unfreezing Iranian assets as a condition for any deal. The Iranian military suggested today that regarding Lebanon, the red line is not just halting Israeli attacks on Beirut, but ending the attacks on the south entirely. The Iranian military said today, "if the aggressions and evils continue, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures will be on the way." Iran has also said that as a condition for any MOU with Trump/US, a substantial amount of its assets must be repatriated. Trump keeps insisting that he will not do this. If there is progress on these issues, Iran has said it is open to resuming the negotiations on an MOU. The ball remains in Trump's court and Iran still believes it holds significant leverage. Trump keeps deluding himself into believing Iran will capitulate. The reality has been clear for weeks: A deal will only happen if Trump makes concessions on Iran's core demands. Without a doubt, Trump's people are trying to find a way to hide these potential concessions and explore secret tracks to meet Iran's conditions while preserving his fictitious "victory" narrative.

It’s very funny for the “foreigners are coming to our country to do crime!” law and order hacks to go abroad, break the law, and then cry about getting punished for it.

the US treats entire populations like lab rats for coercion experiments and then calls itself restrained because the deaths happen through hospital shortages and economic collapse instead of missile footage.
President Obama on Iran: “We pulled it off without firing a missile. We got 97% of their enriched uranium out. There’s no dispute that it worked and we didn’t have to kill a whole bunch of people or shut down the Strait of Hormuz”

One of the defining hallmarks of our modern age is that people in charge of good things are willing to make them incrementally worse for a chance to make more money, knowing most people are powerless to stop it.
The NCAA officially announces that the fields of the Division I men's and women's basketball championships will increase from 68 teams to 76 starting in 2027.

Obama will be remembered as the American Gorbachev, the charismatic, well-intentioned leader feted by the world but who, by failing to address crisis levels of inequality, elite impunity and corruption, hastened US national decline.
What is the #1 thing Obama will be remembered for?

Piker's views on theft are bad, but they really do pale in comparison to his views on murder: that the important thing about Brian Thompson's murder is that healthcare CEOs are 'engaging in a tremendous amount of social murder' due to 'the structural violence of 'poverty'

What's so important abt the Strokes performance is that in less than 5 mins they made crystal clear that the US/Israeli war against Iran is not just happening because of Trump/Bibi. Its happening bcz this is what the US does. This is what it stands for. xitter.cf/guldaar/status/2045805…
Here is what The Strokes did and how it should go down in history as one of the most important protests by a musical band of our times:

When you see your taxes being spent on feeding children instead of bombing them.
The breakfasts are not free. They are paid for by taxes - mostly on parents who feed their own kids. Most of these 10,000 children would have had a perfectly healthy breakfast at home without these clubs. This isn't about helping the poorest kids, it's the state taking over the basic job of parenting.
