This cover kinda works if you imagine Lestat being dramatic while in drag. Which would be very in-character for him.

Because I love @MattFnWallace enough to make crude explainer drawings at lunch.
I don’t learn biological things until @UrsulaV draws me an illustration explaining them it’s just how my brain is wired

Transformers should do a thing where the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile turns out to be an Autobot. This is a million-dollar idea, people.

Cormac McCarthy’s writing was mean, and despairing, with a pretty withering view of humankind, and the cruel engines that drive it. but he had that faint flicker of belief that it could be different. “He can know his heart, but he don’t want to.” gotta tend that flame folks. RIP.

Just finished Pentiment. It's like if The Name of the Rose and was a point-and-click adventure game. I loved it!

Jurassic Park premiered thirty years ago today. It's a great example of a movie that's better than the book. Crichton's novel is okay, but has a dourness that gets in the way of all the rad dino action. Spielberg, though, leans into "fuck yeah dinosaurs," and it's beautiful.

I guess that's just the reactionary brain at work. I read almost everything Crichton wrote when I was a teenager, hoping it would make me feel the way Jurassic Park did. Instead it was just paranoid and sad. It was science fiction, but without wonder and enthusiasm.

Anyway, Jurassic Park is thirty years old now. It's an amazing piece of cinema! And it's so much better than its source material. I can totally see why the movie lives on, and why the novel hasn't had nearly as much of an afterlife.

This is how you write a damn headline.
