Ergo is morally and aesthetically one of the very best Philosophy journals. So I'm delighted that they've published a new paper of mine.
If you're interested in very nuanced debates about consequentialism, this is a paper for you!

Through all the chaos of last week, I missed this coming out, which quotes me. Take a look if you're interested in my thoughts about lecturers being required to monitor the attendance of international students: glasgowguardian.co.uk/2024/1…

Harrison Ford: When dozens of former members of the Trump administration are sounding alarms saying ‘For God's sake, don't do this again,’ you have to pay attention. They're telling us something important. I've got one vote, same as anyone else, and I'm going to use it to move forward. I'm going to vote for Kamala Harris

In the Office for Budget Responsibility report on the Budget the word 'climate' appears just once, and then as an afterthought. Has Labour forgotten the biggest existential threat that we face?

My debate against @JoeSlater87 is now up on Youtube. Watch to see him completely bodied by my raw intellectual power (technically he did win, but the voting was in my opinion rigged). youtu.be/UnE3BKbU43s?si=U6Qu…
When I was a postgrad, I went to Rum on a reading party, which was supposed to last a weekend. Because of choppy seas, we were stranded for an extra two nights. Things were great until the island started to run out of alcohol and cigarettes.
Five stars.

Two months later, I just finished the West Wing. Bloody loved it. Would be nice if American politics remotely resembled it.

I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset.
Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency.
My team successfully convinced the majority of the audience that we should not believe that AI will do more harm than good (my team won - @HikeMix's team lost).
I'm still not sure!
This evening, I will appear in a debate at Glasgow Union, speaking against the motion "This House Believes That Artificial Intelligence Will Do More Harm Than Good".
Should be...interesting...
There was a sizable shift in the betting markets in the last 24 hours, implying Trump is now the favourite, about 7-8% more likely than Wednesday.
Is this hurricane-related? (Has his wretched lying yielded benefits?) Or has something eles happened? #USElection2024
Despite the fact that I'm called "Spencer" in the bibliography(!), this is a very good paper on ChatGPT and bullshit, which makes some nice points in response to some of the things me and my coauthors have said: link.springer.com/article/10…

I think it's important to enjoy your slides. Does it matter if most of the students won't get the references? No. Not at all.
Bad news: I have my first lecture of the year in an hour, and I'm already exhausted.
Good news (...?): My Philosophy of Law YouTube music playlist already has more views than required course materials...
#Pedagogy?
I'm currently preparing my Philosophy of law course for the coming semester. I like this quote from H.L.A. Hart:
“Law, especially the criminal law, is too important a thing to leave to lawyers.”
Sometimes I think Kantians have it so easy. Imagine if you *really* believed in duties to *yourself*!

The 50 richest families in Britain worth £500billion. That's the same amount of money that half of Britain is worth. A 1% tax on the top 1% in society could raise around £25billion a year. #WealthTax | Andy Green: Chair @unitetheunion Executive Council ⤵️
