I'm finally launching my newsletter! I don't write often, but when I do, I try to pack it with value. So if you want an every-once-in-awhile thoughtful note about design and business - dig in! First one will go out in a couple days, and I'd be honored if you'd tune in! 🔗👇

Guys, we’re in a doom loop of replication we’ll regret. It’s more important now than ever to start building things inspired by stuff from outside the internet.

AMA about how it feels to enter 2 new verticals in one week (Data Loss Protection and Security Training)...
Your phishing simulations should be as targeted as the attacks they're preparing people for. Tailored Phishing Simulations and Training is now GA: simulations built from attacks Sublime catches, plus training the moment someone clicks. sublime.security/blog/tailor…

Help - how do I start a company soccer team at a completely remote company?

I dream in AI loops now. Quick peek into how we design stuff at @sublime_sec. Build your own tool - give it enough context - design - feedback - design - feedback - finesse - ship. It's the same design process as always, just with an supercharged AI collaborator.
We’re encoding our design judgment into workflows the team and agents can run. Yesterday’s DLP release was our first product launch where Design OS workflows powered most of the creative production. In just a few weeks, the @sublime_sec design team built these workflows around our design systems, brand guidelines, and motion guidance, keeping creatives in the loop to steer the output and uphold the quality bar. The website workflow turned Notion copy into prototypes using Webflow components. The app UI workflow turned product screenshots (s/o @JoeSalowitz) into animated app visuals. @grassmirror used those visuals to build the social sizzle in a couple of hours.

Thanks to @ridd_design and @designertom for letting me take up air on @joindiveclub radio to talk about being a design founder! Design foundership is so weird. I loved it and felt like I lost sense of my craft all at the same time. Design founders - you've got this!

Blinked and there it is. I sincerely believe @sublime_sec is the best email security product on the market, but the people are even better. I'm extremely thankful I get to do design like this for a living. Here's to many more!

Everyone in tech trying to grasp their place in the new AI world needs to read iRobot by Isaac Asimov. Written in the 1940s, it’s insanely prescient in the age of AI. The HuggingFace incident… People giving up critical thought… The value of designers… It’s all in there.

Last week: “I don’t use Figma anymore” This week: “Ugh - AI can’t design, back to the canvas” Next week: “I don’t use Figma anymore” It’s a perpetual loop…

I'm literally using @itspatmorgan's Design Studio right now as I listen to the latest @ridd_design pod where Pat talks about it - building the next @sublime_sec features...
this week's episode is a deep dive into how @itspatmorgan built his custom prototyping environment youtube.com/watch?v=628c4Yux… it's a great example of how designers can level up the team by building thoughtful internal tools 💪

This is modern design execution
Just sharing a glimpse of what the modern design process looks like. A dedicated app built with Toolcraft specifically for creating that carousel with a WebGL distortion effect. Not in Figma, not in Photoshop or After Effects. Completely tailored software built with Grok 4.6 to nail just one effect and make it easy to bring to live website. Not one-shotted. It took a day and plenty of iterations to explore the right math, find the right references, and lock in the right on-brand vibe. Don’t tell me it’s not design just because we used AI. It is design - and it’s much more fun than sitting in the tool you’re afraid to leave because you feel comfortable there. Quick thought on Grok 4.6 - super fast compared to anything else out there. Good creativity and understanding of the problem. Much, much cheaper than Fable. Fable, however, is still the best at understanding design requests. Kimi is in second place, but super slow.

Designers: build tools to help you build! @sublime_sec needed better chart color logic. So instead a week of riffing in Figma, I took our chart repo and built controls in @itspatmorgan's design studio to set colors, save palettes, and give devs real code instead of pixels.

Easily the most exciting work of my career
AI makes it easy to produce more designs. It does not make it easy to produce better ones. So I’ve set a new charter for the team: start designing the operating system that produces better design outcomes at scale. This means changing our processes, encoding our judgment, and building tooling with guardrails. A few examples in practice: @itspatmorgan is building our Design Studio to easily create prototypes from product blueprints. @JoeSalowitz is encoding our judgment into reusable artifacts that humans and agents can both use. Abigail Spooner is building tools for the marketing team that take recurring creative work off our plate. @grassmirror is turning the product’s agentic UI into an interactive creative system grounded in our brand. I’m also hiring a Design Engineer to own our design system and wire it into our design OS: sublimesecurity.notion.site/… The design landscape is moving fast, and we're on the optimistic end of the AI anxiety spectrum. We're learning something new every day and intentionally weaving it into a system everyone at Sublime Security can use.

I don’t think folks realize just how much the new Siri is going to rock people’s world once it goes out of beta come September

This design studio @itspatmorgan built has been a huge unlock for our design team.
My prototyping flow with @cursor_ai + my custom design environment now includes a canvas that renders, organizes and annotates my prototype views. This allows me to get the benefits of canvas comparison and navigation while preserving the benefits of building a full code prototype under the hood.
