Just tell her high winds are forecast in very dry conditions and her schedule will free up to travel.
LOS ANGELES: According to her office, Mayor Karen Bass will not travel to Washington, D.C., to testify before Congress after being called to appear over concerns about how federal homelessness funds have been spent in Los Angeles.
Her office says Bass has a scheduling conflict and will not attend the Sept. 15 hearing. The city says it is cooperating with the congressional records request.

America was built on the institution of slavery. It is how America became a world economic power — the buying and selling of people being tied to the economy. That is effectively white supremacy, since it was a race-based system.
Fast forward to other economic policies that were guided by race — housing, employment, etc. There were rules that prevented Black people from equally participating in the free economy.
In fact, one of the most glaring features of American capitalism is racial inequality. The racial wealth gap exists because specific policies were put in place to suppress economic participation.
So yes, capitalism is tied to white supremacy.

America's economy was not built on slavery. Enslaved labor produced roughly 10-13% of GNP around 1860, with cotton at 5-6%. U.S. dominance came from post-1865 Northern industrialization, long after abolition.

Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested on prostitution charges after allegedly attempting to pay $140 for sex with a woman at a trailer park.
However, York took a plea deal and was only charged with disorderly conduct.
He was sentenced to just one night in jail and a fine of $1,150.

The LA mayoral race is like if you were voting for fire chief (to pick a simile at random) and your choices were A) the shittiest, most incompetent fire chief you’ve ever seen, and B) a serial arsonist who burns stuff down then goes back the next day and jerks off onto the ashes.
