Going through change? Make it a transition! Subtle, but important difference. Change happens to us. Transition is when we adapt to, and accept the change. A great conversation with our 5Star Life Insurance team in Lincoln Nebraska, a company I am honored to be part of. 5StarLife offers affordable insurance, geared toward the needs of our US Soldiers, National Guard and first responders. Our motto is, "We serve those who serve our nation."

My letter to Charlotte: My dearest Charlotte, In this moment, you are looking out, admiring a beautiful sunset and a sky alive with color. You are filled with wonder. You have been with us for four beautiful years, and you have never seen a moment quite like this. You are taking your time, admiring it, taking it in. I have a promise for you: you will see so many more beautiful sunsets, sunrises, amazing clouds, and pretty skies. Please never let those moments of beauty pass you by without stopping to take them in, just as you are doing in this photo. Your life will be filled with moments of wonder, and they will come from more than the sky. People will come into your life—more than you can ever imagine. They will touch your heart and make your life better. You will make their lives better, too. Always notice them, appreciate them, and cherish them. No matter how long they stay in your life, their impact will shape you. And always know that your impact on them will shape them, too. Never think that the last beautiful sunset you have seen is the most beautiful one you will ever see. The same is true of the love and friendship in your life. As much as you appreciate those you love and those who love you, know that there is still so much more to come. Those relationships can grow stronger and even more rewarding. And Charlotte, even more wonderful people will come into your life. Always remember how much you have ahead of you. Never be too busy to stop and admire something beautiful around you, just as you are doing in this moment. Take time to appreciate the people in your life. Every now and then, tell them how much they mean to you. Take time, too, to recognize how much you mean to them—always more than you know. Make a habit of stopping, often, and simply considering the wonder of it all. And especially remember this, Charlotte: whether I am standing beside you or beyond where you can see or hear me, I am always with you, and I always will be. Always. Love, Bucky

And I thought I was industrious, getting down to the beach for sunrise! Whoever is on that boat got a much earlier start than I did. From both of us, wishing everyone the peace we’re feeling right now in this special moment—today and always.

Monuments to people of the past? Our legacy is not a statue—it’s how we live today. And always remember: you may be only one person in the world, but to one person, you may be the whole world.

Moving on up! I love having dinner with Mr. Lam at his restaurant, Dynasty, in Brooklyn, but this time we decided to step it up with a visit to Golden Unicorn in Chinatown. I love watching our 26-year friendship continue to evolve. I guess that’s one of the gifts of life: growing and evolving alongside each other. In the 1980s, Mr. Lam received death threats following extortion attempts by Chinese gangs. Jimmy Woods and the NYPD took those threats very personally, turning his small Chinese takeout storefront into a mini precinct. The gang members went to prison, and Mr. Lam continued to pursue the American dream. I am inspired by his character, his love, and his work ethic. But what I will always cherish most is that, in my mom’s final days, as I sat at her bedside, Mr. Lam was sitting right next to me. Thank you, Brother Lam!

All parts of this image—the sky, the ocean, the birds, and the reflections—all blending into one scene—make me think of our connection to one another: to those we know, those we have never met, our past, and our future. If only I could always remember that connection and carry the peace I feel gazing at this scene into the moments when I find myself stressed about something. Here’s to nature, reminding us of the peace we are meant to feel in our lives.

BJ’s is about not just about replenishing my Hershey’s Kisses. It’s also about meeting wonderful young officers like Awais Afzal. I posted a photo of him and his partner at Kings Plaza in January, so we thought we’d update our photo with this one. There are a few things I’m comfortable claiming expertise in. Recognizing a young man with a wonderful attitude who truly cares is one of them. Thank you, Awais, for what you do to protect us. It matters! Please stay safe and stay inspired. And I’ll see you again when I run out of chocolate—which will probably be in a few days! @NYPD70Pct

I love “mall walking” in this cold weather, but it gets even better when I get to chat with two of New York’s Finest, PO Awais Afza and Det Junior Sesay. They protect us every day in the 70 Pct, Flatbush. as tough as their job is, as much stress as they face every day, their attitude is even brighter than their smiles in this photo. Thank you Junior and Awais! What do you do matters. Please never forget that. @nypd70pct

So much of life comes down to how we choose to look at things. And we have much more choice than we tend to realize. Here’s to making choices that bring us happiness.

Making memories On our way up to Austerlitz, New York, I spotted this row of trees just starting to change color. I thought the only thing that could make this scene more beautiful to me was my grandson Joey standing in front of them. Always good to have a tripod in the car! Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

In the movie “Harold and Maude,” they are both sitting at a bay, seagulls flying around them. Maude shares that the French Jewish political prisoner Alfred Dreyfus used to watch birds from his island prison, thinking of them as 'glorious birds' but disappointed years later to realize they were “only seagulls.” Then Maude says, "For me they will always be glorious birds Harold.” I think of that scene often. when I ponder the power of our perspective. I am mindful of it this moment, watching these beautiful glorious birds as the sun rises over the beach.

These photos cost me $89! I was out on the jetty, taking pictures while chatting with a friend, when the wind blew one of my AirPods right out of my ear. The replacement? $89! Oh well! Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Here’s to being the one who gets out there. Here’s to sharing good news instead of bad news. Here’s to treating ourselves as well as we deserve. Here’s to us!
