Very pleased to say that I passed my PhD viva today (with minor corrections). Whilst I have really loved doing a PhD, I am also very relieved that it is now (almost) over.

Seems to be only thing the Govt listen to. So a TV drama about sewage and definitely one is needed about #excludedscandal An absolute travesty what happened to @ForgottenLtd @OfficialEUA #ExcludedUK
Good on you Chris (and good luck at the University of Bath)
Very much looking forward (before the general election ) to giving my verdict on the last 14 years of Tory Government.

This is an interesting affect that I had not thought about.
Clean air zones pushing the problem to different locations.
Need to tackling the root problem and not just the symptoms !

Testing my underwater micro-glider yesterday (at a top secret location).
I know that I shouldn't be amazed but, after looking at the data this morning, I see that the flight path was very similar to the modelling work.

Having re-written the journal paper ...
- which necessitated me altering the model
- which necessitated me modifying the prototype
I am now ready for the final (I really do hope so !) underwater micro-glider prototype testing.
Ballasting today and then, a deep lake ...
River levels low on the Bristol Avon (@BristolAvonRT ) so had to ballast the underwater micro-glider in the disgust-erous Keynsham lock.
Just been doing a bit of preliminary river catchment research and I found these great UK map resources (in addition to GIS).

The river Garw which runs through Bryngarw Country Park near Bridgend.
It a wildlife haven.
You will see dippers and kingfishers diving for their supper.
It is also just a couple of miles from the 2 most overused combined sewer overflows in Wales.

They call themselves patriots. But they are trashing all that is good and beautiful about our country. Nothing symbolises this gleeful destruction more powerfully than the state of our rivers.

Heading to Jersey (via Pompey and as a bonus checking out my old employers) to do some reservoir sediment and water sampling.
So, the headline issues with lake science (so far...) appears to consist of managing lots of plastic bottles, having a consistent labelling convention and sneaking the sampling equipment into your hotel room to give it a shower (to prevent invasive species transfer) after use.
This looks a really cool event (and not too late in the day for Europeans to actively participate).
