You blithering idiot. First of all, if you were in Iraq, no matter what your MOS, you stood a good chance of being blown up by an IED, a 107mm rocket or an 82mm mortar. This was true for EVERYONE. In Vance's case, he served in al Anbar Province at the height of the AQI resistance--the worst place to be in the worst part of the war. Further, Vance was a MOS 4341 US Marine Corps Combat Correspondent. People falsely claim that meant he sat in an air conditioned hut, typing, for his whole tour. In reality that meant he was out on combat patrols with, among other units, SOF civil affairs teams. Those CA teams were lightly armed and constantly in danger. (Yes, I know he made that comment in his book. He was being modest.) So next time you want to dis one of our fellow combat vets, how about YOU strap on a plate carrier and pick up an M-4 and head out into the 💩? Ok Pumpkin?
