Readers don't read TradPub novels, because they only print greyed-out garbage, stripped of all color and texture to present banality and evil. TradPub novels are now of brutalist word-edifices bereft of beauty, controversy, or nobility. Read Indies.
I saw of video of Ethan Hawke lamenting how he's not reading half as much as he once did. This is a much deeper and darker pattern. Some of the most avid readers I know, lifelong readers, have basically stopped. They hate it and can't even explain it, the fire's just gone out

When a member of Congress threatens a student journalist for doing their job, the student isn't the one who needs a lesson in the law. We applaud University of Maryland student journalist Cat Murphy for knowing the law and standing her ground on behalf of the readers she serves. When Rep. Andy Harris claimed she couldn't record his news conference — and threatened prosecution if she continued — she knew that his threats were empty under Maryland's state recording laws. Check out her conversation below with CNN's @jaketapper about how, and why, she stood her ground. Student journalists are journalists. They have the same right to cover a public official as anyone in the press pool. They deserve the same respect when they do. At SPLC, we stand with all the student journalists who face threats, intimidation or retaliation. If you have questions about your state's recording laws, or you've faced a threat like this, contact our Legal Hotline for free, confidential help: splc.org/legalhelp
'It's been a lot. But I was focused on doing my job and asking my questions that I wanted answers to.' Student journalist Cat Murphy joins @jaketapper to respond after GOP Rep. Andy Harris threatened to have her prosecuted for recording his answers during a news conference.

I’ll say it again. I don’t care what party a clown like this is aligned with. If journalists doing their damn jobs is a problem for you, then do yourself a favor and get the hell out of public service.
How about the real hero of this Andy Harris story: Cat Murphy? This is who every father wants their daughter to aspire to. A young journalist holding a nearly shouting United States congressman, pointing in her face, hovering over, all because she did her job? Hero.

I've been reading about the algorithm drop that has been happening because of AI on the Zon. How the titles that are flooding the market are burying many authors, especially smaller folk like me. It's been a weird time to have everything dry up these last few months. I thought the work was finally getting seen, and audience was building... I mean, in a sense it was. But lately the basement just fell out. I don't feel like there is much to be done about it. I'll just keep my head down and keep writing. But it does certainly concern me for when I release my next book. It may drop with a resounding silence. I am sure many writers are feeling this.

Indie books are usually my favorites!❤️ #Indie books are often written better than trad books, and some of the most invisible among them have the greatest quality of prose, plot, & character development! Honestly, quality and popularity are only weakly correlated now.
I just DNF’d a very popular trad book because the writing was terrible. I’m currently in the middle of an indie that’s one of the best books I’ve read all year, and that folks…is why I don’t measure my worth as an author based on whether or not trad publishing is interested in my work. 💁🏽‍♀️

Today, we remember those lost on September 11, 2001, and honour all affected. Amid unimaginable tragedy, we reflect on the compassion of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who welcomed thousands of stranded travelers and showed enduring power of generosity, humanity and community.

The tens of thousands of innocent Ukrainians Russia has murdered under Putin's command will have no incredible stories and their families will have only memories of them. What a disgrace, these worms supposedly representing America.
US envoy Steve Witkoff: So, first of all, President Putin, thank you so much for having us. When we retire, we'll have all these incredible stories and incredible memories, and yours will be right at the top of it all.

I was given my name by the Iroquois Nation many hundreds of years ago. By 1660 my name was printed on maps by the Europeans as they accepted the Native name which means Beautiful waters. In 1867 the Canadian government decided to use my name for their providence.
