[1020] #KimJaewon Appointed Ambassador for World Webtoon Festival Actor Kim Jaewon will serve as an ambassador for this year’s World Webtoon Festival. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on October 20 that they had appointed Kim Jaewon as the official ambassador for the festival, which will be held around COEX in Seoul from December 2 to 6. Now in its third year, the festival is a global celebration that brings together webtoon works, creators, and fans from Korea and abroad. Exhibitions, hands-on activities, and stage programs will take place at COEX Hall B, while webtoon exhibitions and merchandise pop-up stores will be set up around COEX Mall. During the festival, he will explore the exhibitions and pop-up stores and take part in stage programs. Drawing on his experience in dramas based on webtoons, he will talk about the connection between webtoons and video content and introduce a campaign to combat illegal distribution. He will also take part in a dubbing show with voice actor Nam Dohyeong. Having continued his connection with screen content based on webtoons, Kim Jaewon will use his role as an ambassador to introduce fans in Korea and abroad to how webtoons expand into video content and real-world spaces, as well as their appeal. The official promotional video was produced around the festival’s slogan, READY, SET, SCROLL! In the video, Kim Jaewon enters the world of webtoons through a mobile screen and experiences becoming the main character of various works, including Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, The Remarried Empress, The Build Up, and The Antique Shop of the Future. Through Kim Jaewon’s perspective, the video captures what makes the festival special: the chance to see, hear, and experience in person the webtoons people usually enjoy on their screens. At the end of the video, he delivers the message “Time for the World to Scroll Together,” announcing the start of the festival. Kim Jaewon will continue promotional activities ahead of the event through various content, including image cards and short-form videos. During the festival, he plans to explore the exhibitions and pop-up stores, participate in stage programs, and interact with visitors. On stage, he will share his experiences of working in dramas based on webtoons and talk about the connection between webtoons and video content. He also plans to introduce a campaign to combat the illegal distribution of webtoons, which he joined as part of his ambassador activities. In addition, he will attend the World Webtoon Awards to celebrate the achievements of notable webtoon works and creators over the past year. naver.me/xZKf95mb
