We are not the same people we were before October 7. Across Israel, communities are reopening doors, returning home, and rebuilding. Here in BC, we continue to support rebuilding in northern Israel. Am Yisrael Chai. Support the work: jewishbc.ca/rebuilding-the-n…

Important announcement from @Conservative_BC @LDoerkson. We welcome the commitments outlined in the letter, including the proposed $1.5 million investment in Jewish community security, as well as measures to strengthen Holocaust education, protect Jewish students.. 1/3 #bcpoli
I wrote to leaders of BC's Jewish community to share our plan to stand up to antisemitism. A BC Conservative government will adopt the IHRA definition, protect Jewish students on campus, strengthen Holocaust education, expand anti-hate security funding, and train police and prosecutors to properly identify and prosecute hate crimes. The Jewish community deserves moral clarity and decisive action.

Three years ago, Hamas terrorists carried out the deadliest attack against Jews since the Holocaust. On October 7, we remember the people whose lives were stolen, including eight Canadians murdered by Hamas. We honour the survivors and stand with the families whose lives were forever changed. Through it all, our community has continued to stand together. And we have a responsibility to remember — to say their names, tell their stories and ensure that what happened on October 7 is never forgotten. We encourage you to join an October 7 commemoration in your community and remember together. Link: cija.ca/october_7_commemorat…

We are saddened by the incident on Tsawwassen First Nations land, where two individuals died and several people were injured after a driver lost control of their vehicle while appearing to experience a medical emergency. On a day where we commemorate the Survivors of residential schools and remember those who did not make it home, today’s news fills us with profound sorrow. We hold those who died or were injured, their families, and all of Tsawwassen First Nations in our thoughts, hearts and prayers today, and wish those in hospital a full recovery.

Canadians are waking up to deeply troubling reports of a potentially catastrophic attack against Israeli civilians, with brave passengers on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv preventing a far more deadly outcome. As we approach the three-year anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 terrorist attack—the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust—we are reminded of the serious threats facing innocent civilians worldwide, including here in Canada. In just the past week and a half, Canadians have witnessed an escalation in frequency and severity of plots, attacks and threats, including an ISIS-inspired chemical weapons plot in Quebec and the attack on the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville that, if not for the heroism of Constables Smith and McCurdy, would have been a mass-casualty incident. We urge the Canadian government to unequivocally condemn attacks targeting Israeli civilians and call on all levels of government to take concrete action to protect Canadians from the escalating threats of violent extremism and terrorism.

Our hearts are with the Belleville Jewish community after the shooting outside Sons of Jacob Synagogue, where members of the Jewish community had gathered to observe Yom Kippur. No Jewish community should have to gather in prayer, reflection, or community with fear. (1/4)
