Cotton harvest finally started yesterday. Rains had slowed the process down and rain is in the forecast. Quantity and quality is effected by the summer drought. Hopefully we can keep rolling and let 2026 be a memory.

Good to have @secrollins visit with Texas cotton farmers today! While in the Lone Star State, she announced more flexibility for farmers’ to protect their crops and more opportunities to sell American cotton.
More protection for our farmers. More demand for AMERICAN COTTON. 🇺🇸🌱 In 2023 under the last administration, Brazil overtook the United States as the world’s top cotton exporter… We’re fighting to put American cotton BACK on top! Today at Giesenschlag Farms in Caldwell, Texas, I met with farmers and announced TWO MORE steps forward under our Great American Cotton Plan: ➡️ More flexibility to protect their crops. Beginning with the 2027 crop year, farmers will be able to combine critical coverage options on their crop insurance policies to better manage risk. ➡️ More opportunities to sell AMERICAN COTTON. @USDA will oversee a trade program that will lower tariffs on clothing made with US cotton from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia — giving these major textile producers a clear incentive to BUY AMERICAN. Our growers work too hard to be left behind. Under @POTUS, we’re fighting to lower their costs, expand their markets, and keep their family farms strong. Thank you to Giesenschlag Farms for hosting and every farmer who joined us. We have your backs!

Relief for America’s farmers! Last week, @POTUS signed his dyed-diesel Executive Order. Yesterday, @USTreasury provided important clarification on what that action means for farmers: ✅ No federal tax on dyed diesel used on the highway during the relief period ✅ No federal dyed-diesel penalties ✅ No federal on-road dyed-fuel inspections ✅ No new mileage tracking ✅ No additional reporting or recordkeeping just to qualify for relief For farmers pulling fuel from existing farm tanks during harvest, that means no new Washington paperwork, no tracking every mile, and more flexibility to keep crops moving. Thank you @POTUS, @VP, and @SecScottBessent, for delivering real relief for America’s farmers. irs.gov/newsroom/irs-provide…

Texas farmers and ranchers can temporarily use dyed diesel on public roads following a statewide disaster declaration by Gov. @GregAbbott_TX. The declaration also allows fuel, agricultural and timber loads to operate at a gross weight of up to 95,000 pounds. Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening said the changes will help reduce costs as farmers and ranchers face high fuel prices and other production expenses. Read more: txfb.us/46Pqw7e
