The Sam Kerr case is a good example of how states don’t use racial vilification laws to obtain justice just to reinforce racial hierarchies and obscure relationships of power.

There is a very long history of denying womanhood to African women. It was a central justification of slavery

When you hear anyone in the news or social media say "during the pandemic" or "post-pandemic", this is what they are talking about: (2024-11 update)

Long Covid is a class issue, idk why it needs to be said explicitly. Who doesn’t have paid leave? Who doesn’t have savings to take months, years off? Who doesn’t have insurance? Who doesn’t have a household that can be down an income? Working class ppl are losing jobs & housing
Cincinnati Enquirer: “A long haul with long COVID: Why poor and middle income Americans are hit hardest” “I can’t tell you how many people are couch surfing or living in cars,” said Delainne Bond, a Florida nurse… cincinnati.com/story/news/20…

The thing is, there’s a large feminist literature from decades ago and is wider than discussion of trans that problematises the concept of ‘woman’. Black, lesbian and working class feminists have long talked about ‘woman’ as exclusionary. The other thing is, GCs haven’t read it.
Endless circular reasoning. 'A woman is anyone who identifies as one', yet they can't define woman. To do so would be to admit that a woman is a woman by virtue of her sex class and nothing else - not dress, not behaviour, not life choices, not 'femininity' - simply her anatomy.

Biological is such a strange word to hinge things on. Am I not biological? Am I made of plastic and cables? When was I severed from nature? I breathe, I eat, I shit, I sleep, my heart flutters often with anxiety and sometimes with love.

The bathroom ban in the US is the epitome of why cops never belong at pride. It's simple. If basic aspects of our existence are against the law, who enforces those laws? Who arrests us for using bathrooms and taking our hormones? They are the frontline of our criminalisation.

If you are insisting on your right to be in public w/out wearing respiratory protection, you are also saying that those more vulnerable than you (currently) must sacrifice any access at all to public life for your right to enjoy the privilege of doing so barefaced.

Dear 🇬🇧, Here’s your weekly reminder that 10 years ago, your NHS was ranked the #1 healthcare system on Earth. You don’t need a new system. You need a new govt that won’t destroy your public NHS to feed a private system. Your family isn’t safe in #ToryBritain. #SOSNHS

Just a reminder that there have been no doctors’ strikes in Scotland - not one day! Pay deals haven’t led to a surge of new pay demands from others. Inflation hasn’t rocketed. But more patients are being treated and the NHS is stronger I guess it’s about priorities

This government’s strike-breaking agency worker regulations, which allowed agency workers to fill in for those on strike, are quashed as of TODAY. The High Court ruled they were unlawful.

Think it's probably time to once again to talk about WHY the overwhelming majority of refugees, asylum seekers & irregular migrants are young men, and why being a young man does not mean someone is not a genuine refugee or genuinely in need. 🧵
Note to the Left. Every illegal migrant that crosses the Channel from France is taking the place of someone genuinely in danger in a refugee camp. Why can't you see that these fit healthy young men are actually preventing help reaching those desperate people who really need it?

If you've ever bought Viagra, you've purchased gender-affirming care. You know what else counts as gender-affirming care? 👉Hair transplants. 👉Breast enhancements. 👉Eyelash extensions. 👉Hormone therapy. 👉Lip filler. 👉Facelifts. 👉Haircuts. 1/2

The regret rate of gender-affirming surgery is 0.3%. The regret rate for knee replacement surgery is 6-30%. "Transition regret" is a false narrative being pushed by the media to prevent people from getting access to life-saving, gender-affirming healthcare. However... Let's address that 0.3%. Many outside factors contribute to a trans person's regret: 👉Unsupportive families. 👉Transphobic environments. 👉Normal post-op distress. Just because that 0.3% of people regret their surgery doesn't mean they're not transgender. The fear of regret shouldn't stop thousands of trans people from getting access to the healthcare they deserve. Regret rates exist - but not for the reasons the media are trying to push.
