The future of American energy is nuclear, and BWXT is helping lead the way. Today, BWXT’s Joe Miller hosted U.S. Secretary of Energy, @ChrisAWright_ and Congressman @RepJohnMcGuire at our BWXT Innovation Campus in Lynchburg, Virginia for a firsthand look at Project Pele – our deployable nuclear microreactor. The visit showcased BWXT’s role in advancing nuclear innovation and strengthening America’s energy security, and capped off a regional engagement focused on the future of American energy. Thank you, Secretary Wright and Congressman McGuire, for championing American nuclear innovation! #NuclearEnergy #AmericanNuclear #EnergySecurity #ProjectPele

On site at INL. Fuel mid-Nov. Criticality planned for December.
In 1953, Rickover said a practical reactor is one that “is being built now.” MARVEL is coming together at @INL. All major components are on site, and fuel is scheduled for mid-November. It wasn’t easy. Grateful for the effort, skill, and persistence of the team behind it. The lessons learned will benefit every reactor that follows. Learn more here: inl.gov/marvel/

One of the best ways to add nuclear power is to expand our operating plants: 345 MW of uprates at Southern, 433 MW at Vistra, 890 MW from Constellation & Google, & ~2.25 GW of restarts at Palisades, Crane & Duane Arnold. DOE's UPRISE aims for 5 GW by 2029. @GovNuclear @ENERGY ⚛️
.@INL proudly supports the efforts of @GovNuclear's newly launched Utility Power Reactor Incremental Scaling Effort (UPRISE), an initiative focused on accelerating domestic #NuclearEnergy production by maximizing the nation’s existing infrastructure. ⚛️ 🔗energy.gov/ne/articles/natio…

This is what Launch Pad is for: enabling developers to move fast to produce critical medical isotopes like Lu-177 here at home. Great work @oklo, and kudos to @ENERGY and our @NRICnuclear team making it happen. ⚛️
After building our Groves Isotope Test Reactor from the ground up and bringing it to criticality in less than a year, Oklo has been selected to advance Groves 2 Forge as part of the U.S. @ENERGY’s Nuclear Energy Launch Pad initiative. Groves 2 Forge builds directly on what we learned at Groves. We plan to integrate isotope production and processing together in one facility with an initial focus on lutetium-177, an isotope used in targeted cancer treatments. We are taking what we demonstrated at Groves and moving toward commercial-scale isotope production, while building the experience and infrastructure needed to strengthen domestic isotope supply. Groves showed how quickly we can build. Groves 2 is about building on that momentum to produce materials that can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Thank you for visiting @rookisaacman It was an honor to have you @INL and I appreciate your inspiring message. Let's go!
Great day at Idaho National Laboratory, one of America’s most important centers for advancing the nuclear technologies that will power our future on Earth and in space. The progress underway on SR-1 Freedom was especially exciting to see. For more than 60 years, taxpayers have invested billions in space nuclear technology. Yet America has flown just one reactor in space, and it never left Earth orbit. We’re changing that. SR-1 Freedom is our Nautilus. Like the first ship of the Nuclear Navy, it does not need to begin as the perfect end-state system. It needs to fly, establish operating experience, and give us the foundation for increasingly capable reactors and spacecraft that follow. That progress on nuclear energy can ultimately provide dependable power for the Moon Base, enable more ambitious exploration throughout the outer solar system, and help produce the spacecraft that someday carry astronauts to Mars and bring them home safely. NASA should be working on the near-impossible capabilities others are not positioned to pursue. Nuclear power and propulsion in space belongs squarely in that category. Thank you to @GovernorLittle, @CongMikeSimpson, DOE Deputy Secretary James Danly, the entire @INL workforce, and our partners at @ENERGY for the work underway to finally get America moving on nuclear power in space. SR-1 is just the beginning. The Nuclear NASA is coming.
