2026 #NationalYearOfReading
In a quest to encourage more people to come to the Library we asked our volunteers and supporters to join January’s challenge - to rewrite a book in the form of a poem.
Well done to all who took part.
Today is the last in the series of #Book2Poem
‘Twas on a Thursday afternoon,
When I beheld four pensioners,
They looked so neat in Coopers Chase
In every high degree.
They looked so neat and clever, O,
A-solving of a murder, O

Dashing away with the unsolved clues,
Knowing some friends they would have to lose,
Catching the baddies who make the news,
They solved the mystery.

Be careful what you say,
Be careful what you do.
Remember, don’t forget,
BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU
The truth lies all askew,
The past no longer true.
They tell you ‘War is Peace’
BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU

Plan insurrection and a coup
Seek out the rebellious few
But beware the Thought Police,
BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU
When rebellion you learn to rue
And the Party line to spew,
When you learn to love Big Brother,
BIG BROTHER WILL LOVE YOU TOO
