sunoo went to ground not because of global voting nor because of the producers, but because of the ilanders themselves.
crown unit was the last unit to perform in the entrance test. the slots for the trainees who would stay in iland were already limited, BUT the ilanders still raised their hands to vote for them, with sunoo receiving 20 votes out of 23 ilanders (the other three were members of crown unit) because crown unit, especially sunoo, did a great job performing. even the producers acknowledged it!
now, why did sunoo go to ground?
if the elimination system had been based on the trainees' individual scores from the entrance test, sunoo would've stayed in iland, too. but no, they let the ilanders decide PRIVATELY whom they wanted to eliminate. at that time, sunoo didn't have any connections or friends in iland. if you watched episode 1, you'd know what I mean. so, even though he was one of the trainees who performed with stable vocals, he was still sent to ground.
and before you accuse me of making up stories, even trainees who performed poorly stayed in iland, too. so why were trainees who performed so well being sent to ground instead?
during the BTS test, when they performed "Fire" by BTS, sunoo ranked fifth, even though the choreography was extremely difficult and physically demanding, especially considering that he was struggling with health issues at the time, too. but despite ranking higher, he was STILL eliminated because of the ilanders AGAIN.
take note: sunoo was never criticized by the producers for his talents, and even the ilanders themselves praised him. he constantly received compliments for his abilities instead.
despite everything, even though it was completely unfair for him to be sent to ground and receive fewer privileges compared to those who stayed in iland, I'm still grateful that he went there. the community in ground was livelier and more positive compared to the atmosphere in iland (well, if you watched the episodes, you'd know what I mean, too). in ground, he was happier and was able to share and showcase his talents, which would've otherwise been ignored in iland.
so don't compare sunoo to your fav. sunoo trained for only 10 months at belift, a new and small company meanwhile, your fav trained for 3 years at bighit alongside TXT. sunoo did that while he had undergone major surgery too. the company was trying so hard to promote your fav as the "ace" of the show, while sunoo naturally gained popularity because of his talents and simply by being himself.
but despite that, sunoo still received the 'main character in iland' anw. ORGANIC AND PURE!🙃
