Smart contracts are deterministic. Disputes are not. That’s why I brought native on-chain arbitration to @solana with Accord. Random jurors. Transparent process. Binding on-chain verdicts. Code handles execution. Humans handle judgment. Link to whitepaper in the comments 🧵👇

I've noticed this really lame trend when Canadian wildfire smoke drifts south, Americans act like Canada did something to them Meanwhile, Canadians are breathing worse air, evacuating homes and fighting the fires. It's so odd to me that someone would respond to a natural disaster with blame rather than concern

The 'cash' in your custody can also be frozen arbitrarily by the issuer. The 1:1 backing you speak of is also sitting in a bank account and subject to the same risk as the SVB collapse. Ask yourself how redemption would hold up in a 2008 style financial collapse. This is why Solana needs a credibly neutral stablecoin, backed by onchain collateral.
It's March 9, 2023. I find out Silicon Valley Bank might collapse. The company I was running had 7-figures in SVB. This was the majority of our cash. A bank run was on. And we couldn't get our cash out. Our CEO, CFO, and I got on a call. If we can't get this cash, we can't make payroll. If we can't make payroll, we need to layoff majority of the company. It was the longest weekend of my career. Thankfully, the gov't bailed out SVB and made depositors whole. That day I understood that the money in a bank is not actually your money. FDIC doesn't go very far. The bank is fractionally reserved. As a business operator, it is irrational to hold 100% of your company cash in a traditional bank. If you do, you are not in full control of your business. Securing a portion of your treasury in stablecoins gives you that control back. Your cash is in your custody. You can move your money anywhere at any time. There is no underlying bank to collapse. The stablecoins you hold are not fractionally reserved, they're backed 1:1. In the next few years, holding 100% of your treasury in a traditional bank or neobank will look reckless.
