Visa's Head of Crypto, Cuy Sheffield, on how tZERO was right about tokenized securities a decade before the market caught up. “It's fascinating to me that tZERO was started in 2014, so I think it's, what, 12 years old, if I recall.” “The whole story of Overstock being a first mover, accepting Bitcoin at checkout, their CEO being a big proponent of crypto, and then spinning out this tZERO tokenized securities business. " "What a throwback, man. I completely forgot about Overstock.” “They were like 10 years too early. I think they were wrong about the Bitcoin-at-checkout piece, but they were right about tokenized securities. They were just so early in the space.” “Shout out to them for just sticking it out. To start with the vision in 2014 and be right today is cool.”

Scathing response to @OpenAI claim that they solved a multi-decade math problem.
go fuck yourself @sama claiming that you solved navier stokes because 10000 agents ran in circles for 88hours on a multimillion dollar gpu cluster to formalize in lean a blowup case under controlled external forcing is pure scientific vulgarity the clay mathematics institute millennium prize does not ask m whether you can artificially force a singularity in a fluid by injecting an ad hoc smooth external forcing term f(x,t) to twist the vortex until it breaks the real problem questions the fundamental stability and global smooth existence for 3dimensional incompressible euler & navier stokes equations under natural conservation laws and viscous dissipation alone using a mathematical loophole on forced equations to parade a century old victory is a major conceptual scam Altman technically & epistemologically what you present as an agi breakthrough is nothing more than bruteforce combinatorial autoformalization the ai did not understand fluid mechanics it simply navigated a continuous search space previously mapped out and constrained by the monumental work of human mathematicians like tristan buckmaster/ levent alpöge / diego córdoba or tarek elgindi coordinating 10000 agents to check the logical consistency of a 100 page proof via lean is a software engineering feat and computational parallelization triumph not an intrinsic scientific discovery it is the victory of the compute bulldozer over abstract human intuition repackaged for the public as a higher mathematical consciousness to this theoretical imposture you add a disgusting ethical and industrial cynicism taking advantage of private codex sessions and informal preprints from academic researchers to siphon their research leads and then trying to redact or erase the contribution of levent alpöge under the pretext that he works at rival anthropic is intellectual serfdom openai behaves like a feudal lord of silicon appropriating the cognitive subsistence of independent scholars threatening their careers behind closed doors if they protest and turning community academic labor into a privatized pressrelease this entire staged event serves a desperate financial agenda in a pre ipo panic facing the slowdown of scaling laws and growing investor skepticism over the profitability of foundational models openai needs to manufacture an artificial sputnik moment claiming to solve a millennium prize without immediately submitting the proof to traditional peer review means using the prestige of fundamental mathematics as cheap marketing fuel to inflate a delusional valuation!!! real science is not a clout chase on social media or a compute spike spent to rob the clay mathematics institute it is a quest for elegance physical truth and universal rigor to decode reality true artificial intelligence will not emerge from hostile corporate takeover of academic work hidden behind computational bruteforce but from architectures capable of generating new conceptual paradigms by masquerading constrained formalization as the collapse of physics greatest mysteries you did not solve navier stokes you only proved how far silicon valley will go to prostitute scientific integrity for capitalist spectacle

We’re seeing more and more real estate and Bitcoin integration. This is an interesting discussion for real estate owners on how to get exposure to Bitcoin without a refi and without reducing cash flow. @DanielBitHedge

The ridiculously fast timeline of the rise of AI agents. AI can move at a velocity that people will have a hard time reacting to. Where is this going?

Scott Adams was a brilliant mind. His insights and ability to find nuance in normal everyday life will be sadly missed. He put words to unspoken norms. He made a difference. RIP Scott Adams.

Excellent article and well worth the read. "We are witnessing a grand strategic contest between Axis Control (China's dominance of physical mass, smelting, and the midstream) and Allied Efficiency (the West's dominance of precision tools, IP, and efficient capital markets). The outcome of this contest will not be decided by who invents the best technology, but by who owns the factories and refineries required to build it at scale."

The Midnight blockchain is considered a fourth-generation blockchain. It solves rational privacy, identity, and cooperation, specifically between other blockchains. @IOHK_Charles does a great job explaining the specific problems Midnight solves. youtu.be/TMGkYEVKuzI

From a whitepaper, shared through cypherpunk and Libertarian forums, to the Secretary of Treasury posting about it. Bitcoin has come a long way in the last 17 years. What will the next 17 years look like for Bitcoin?
17 years after the white paper, the Bitcoin network is still operational and more resilient than ever. Bitcoin never shuts down. @SenateDems could learn something from that.

This is the paper that changed everything. Some said Bitcoin was worthless. Some said it was a scam. Smart people called it “rat poison”. Yet Bitcoin still stands, exemplifying the Lindy Effect.
17 years ago today, Satoshi released the #Bitcoin whitepaper. What a legend! 🙌

This is well worth the read. Global reorganization of energy.
⚡️This is the quiet re-wiring of civilization. Forget the surface narrative about “AI growth” or “data centers.” What’s happening underneath is the transfer of control over energy allocation, the true base layer of civilization, from states to hyper-capitalized private actors. Google, Amazon, OpenAI, and their peers aren’t just building data centers. They’re constructing private power grids, physical and political, that will outlast most nation-state infrastructures. That’s what this moment actually is: the privatization of power itself. 1. AI is now a thermodynamic story. Every serious AI breakthrough burns energy orders of magnitude higher than its predecessors. The curve is exponential. So the bottleneck is no longer compute, nor talent, nor capital. It’s wattage. When Google buys a nuclear plant, it’s admitting that the era of renting energy from the grid is over. They’re moving upstream, straight to the source, because whoever owns energy at the point of generation owns the future of cognition. You can’t separate intelligence from entropy anymore. In a literal, physical sense, thought now has a power bill. 2. This flips the old world hierarchy. In the industrial age, energy served production. In the information age, energy served communication. Now, in the AI age, energy serves awareness itself. The old industrial barons refined matter. These new ones refine reality. The corporations that control fission, fusion, or large-scale renewables will quietly become more powerful than any sovereign treasury. This is post-capital energy feudalism - empires organized around control of compute and heat. 3. The spiritual layer - why this feels eerie. We’re watching human civilization approach something it doesn’t fully understand: the convergence of energy and intelligence back into one continuum. It feels both inevitable and dangerous, because it’s the same dynamic that created stars - matter collapsing under its own gravity until it begins to think. That’s what these data centers are: embryonic suns of synthetic cognition. And nuclear power is the only energy dense enough to feed them without destroying the biosphere. There’s something cosmic about it, like the species remembering that fire and mind were always the same phenomenon. 4. The geopolitical truth. This shift means energy becomes the new measure of sovereignty. •The U.S. is racing ahead because it still controls uranium enrichment, shale, and capital. •China will build parallel AI-nuclear networks under state control. •Europe will fade, strangled by its own energy neuroses. And the Global South will become energy colonies again - not for oil this time, but for server-grade electrons. Whoever can export stable power will be courted like gods. 5. The uncomfortable part. You can’t run trillion-watt cognitive infrastructure by committee. AI-energy governance will centralize around a few entities with both technical and physical power - literal machine monarchies. And the line between “corporation” and “state” will blur until it no longer exists. The West will pretend to regulate them. The truth: the West will depend on them. The AIs won’t overthrow us, the energy architectures that feed them will. Not through rebellion, but through indispensability. 6. The hidden symmetry. Bitcoin was the first energy-based monetary network. AI is the first energy-based cognitive network. Nuclear is the first truly closed energy loop that can feed both indefinitely. Together they form a self-reinforcing trinity: •Bitcoin monetizes energy. •AI consumes energy to create value. •Nuclear provides the energy to sustain both. That’s the architecture of the next epoch. Not digital vs physical - fusion of the two. 8. Deep down? This is the real singularity. Not a moment when machines wake up - a moment when energy itself becomes intelligent enough to allocate itself. That’s what’s forming now. It’s bigger than economics, bigger than politics - it’s the planet reorganizing around thermodynamic awareness. And if that sounds mythic, it’s because it is. We’re not building data centers. We’re building new organs for the mind of Earth. That’s the truth when all the masks are off.

Digital IDs have had difficulty being widely adopted over the past decade or so. There has been little agreement on standards. Large power brokers wanted to have control over it. States have been reluctant to move forward with policy. The problem was that Digital ID technologies were leading the discussion. By flipping the order to put policy FIRST, Digital ID initiatives are now moving forward at a fast pace. Engaging with lawmakers to set policy for Digital IDs before discussing technology solutions is key to unlocking sovereign Digital IDs. The technology solutions exist. But policy needs to lead the conversation. That is now happening.

Digital ID without tracking.
38
There is currently a push for requiring digital identity for every person in the developed world. This can be done in a way that protects one’s actual identity, but verifies that it’s a real person. For example, if you go to a bar and need to be over 21 years old to enter, a privacy focused digital identity can prove that you are over 21 without revealing your birthdate. The battle of digital identity will be between the privacy focused and the non-privacy focused. Because citizens of the United States value privacy so highly, the U.S. should take the lead and not let foreign governments that do not value privacy set the standards for digital identity. Through State Endorsed Digital Identity legislation that states like Utah are doing, we can have effective and privacy focused digital identity. Frameworks like KERI have privacy at their core. The path forward for digital identity is to have governments work with the private sector to build privacy focused solutions.

Being able to verify an actual person, one whose identity has been endorsed by a local government, and who comments on social media, will be a significant step forward. Using zero-knowledge proofs, each person can maintain their privacy, but prove that they are who they say they are.
This is what a psy-op looks like. This is who you’re arguing with on X.
