I honestly wouldn't be surprised if an FTC investigation is brought against Epic Games because of this "Pirate Token" debacle in Fortnite. There was also news that broke out that Epic Games can change the odds, and enable or disable the Pirate Token without anyone knowing or even leakers as well.
What Fortnite has brought upon this game is predatory and is conducting a deceptive business practice making people believe that everyone has a "FAIR" chance. I know people as well where entire squads with over 15,000 chests opened and not getting items simply as the car, jam track, pickaxe, or the loading screen.
Fortnite needs to have better transparency with the community and their partners when it comes to hosting events like this.

Some of them use some sort of animation to make it seem like they got it but it's usually just bait

I’m starting to think Fortnite is ONLY giving these Golden Pirate Tokens to big streamers so millions of people keep wasting HOURS trying to get one. Regular players are opening hundreds of chests and getting NOTHING, while streamers somehow keep finding them???

MORE INFO ON PIRATE SHOP TOKENS:
The game uses this Clover service to determine and distribute the prize when a chest is unlocked. Because of this, the odds are never present in the client files.
Additionally, they display a live backend service called "Clover" that operates on the real Fortnite servers and has endpoints for /prize-reservation and /prize-reservation/claim.

Fortnite scammed everyone and stole our time- PLEASE READ THIS !!
Pirate token rules so far:
- token spawns only on certain lobbies (you can play a ton of matches with 0 odds the token is in your lobby)
- once you get lucky and play in a lobby with the token it’s then a game of luck, you have to open the exact chest with the token in it out of the whole map
- the prizes are in a pool let’s say 200 gizmos and will be given out during a specific time in the day until the 200 runs out then you get no more until the next window of time
- this means they let everyone run around thinking opening chest could get you the token when in reality it’s not true. Only people who spawned in the right lobby can get the token, then it’s not even a random spin per chest.. the token is in one specific chest in the whole map… and bots open chests !!!!!!
