The NDP wants a wealth tax of 1–3% on fortunes over $10 million to help fund 50 public grocery stores, housing and healthcare.
His revenue target: $40 billion a year. But public ownership won’t guarantee cheaper food.

While the Prime Minister offers political theatre without results, Conservatives are making the case for tariff-free trade, Canadian jobs, and North American security and prosperity.
Our national interest must come before partisan theatre.

This was announced in Nov 2025 budget. It’s been a year and nothing has been done. I’ve heard from senior government sources that the Canadian banks lobbying hard against it. This is why nothing has been implemented yet.

Excellent work by my colleague @adamchamb asking the Competition Bureau to review the impact of banks’ dominance over mutual funds.
The Carney gov’t needs to improve competition to increase choice, lower prices & improve affordability.

Today, I tried again.
The Prime Minister's new national security framework states that Canada needs to "prepare for all contingencies up to and including war and other worst-case scenarios", and puts economic security at the heart of that preparation.
Canada had the fiscal capacity to deal with the 2008 global financial crisis and the 2020 pandemic, where the government had to borrow massively to deal with those crises.
When each crisis began, our net debt-to-GDP ratio was about 30%. It is now about 40% and projected to grow.
I asked the question twice. Twice, the government did not answer.
In total, I have asked the government this question six times since last week. Six times I did not get an answer.

Yesterday, I tried to get an answer again because it is an important question that speaks to the fiscal credibility of the Prime Minister.
I asked the question twice.
Twice, I did not get an answer.

On October 20, the PBO projected that the government was going to blow through the fiscal anchor established in the first budget.
So, twice last week, I asked the government if they were going to blow through the anchor in the upcoming budget.
Twice, they did not answer.

Praying for everyone involved in this morning’s bus crash on Highway 39 near Mackenzie, B.C., and for their families.
Thank you to the first responders and to the hospital teams in Mackenzie and Prince George who are working to help all the injured.
Praying that all are ok 🙏🏻
Appreciate those who can pray, to pray.
“A bus crashed north of Prince George on Wednesday morning and police say there are serious injuries.”
“Mackenzie RCMP said the bus “left the roadway” on Highway 39, south of Mackenzie. Police added that multiple injuries have been reported, including serious injuries.”
“Multiple ambulances have been requested, along with an air ambulance, RCMP said.”

The Liberals promised homes, but instead they’ve given us housing debt!
They’ve turned our housing market into a rigged game of monopoly.
Division 7 of the budget implementation act puts taxpayers on the hook for 1 TRILLION DOLLARS of mortgage debt!
The Liberals know this is wrong that’s why not one of them has ever mentioned Division 7 in the House of Commons, even now after I’ve called them out on it!
We need to build homes, not engage in weird financialization maneuvers that put ordinary people more in debt.
Every time the Liberals pull this shit, more ordinary people get priced out of the housing market and more fat cat bankers get rich.
What else can you expect from a fat cat banker who became Prime Minister?
The prime minister understands economics. He knows exactly what he’s doing and he’s not doing it for you!

I'm closely following reports of a serious bus crash on Highway 39 south of Mackenzie this morning. My thoughts are with everyone who was on that bus, and with the families of those affected.
Northern communities look after each other, and I know Mackenzie and Prince George are doing that today.
Thank you to the Mackenzie RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, the fire crews and air ambulance teams who responded, and to the nurses, doctors, and hospital staff working right now.
I also want to acknowledge local MLA @KielGiddens, who has been working closely with the community as this situation unfolds.
I’ve just learned of the serious bus crash on Highway 39 south of Mackenzie, with multiple injuries reported.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected and their loved ones. Thank you to the RCMP, paramedics, firefighters and all first responders on scene.
Highway 39 is expected to remain closed for several hours. Detour via the Causeway and Mill Road. Please check DriveBC, follow emergency personnel’s directions and give responders room to work.
Wishing everyone a safe recovery.

We’re blessed to live in a country defended by generations of Canadians who answered the call to serve.
This Veterans’ Week, wear a poppy, thank a veteran and attend a ceremony.
But our gratitude must go beyond remembrance. As a country, we must honour veterans not just with words, but with deeds, ensuring they receive the care and support they’ve earned.
We will remember them.

The Canadian budget is usually locked, printed under tight security (staff sealed in the plant from the day before), and only handed to media in a phone-free lockup the morning of. By the time the Finance Minister stands up, the books are already done. A true last-minute rewrite for overnight midterm results would be a logistical nightmare. Carney and Champagne pull out a napkin for a rewrite?
Media pitch suggests that Canada PM Mark Carney may make last-minute changes to the 2026 budget plan -- out Thursday -- due to results of midterms. (Hasn't the budget been printed, @DavidMcLA?)
