ALT News Release: The Province of Nova Scotia has provided additional details on the restrictions placed on woodland activity announced on May 30, 2023. In response, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg has made the decision to close all MODL parks and trails until further notice. “While the Province has permitted municipal parks and beaches to remain open, MODL, like several other municipalities, is taking extra caution,” said Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson. “The Municipality’s parks and trails are predominately wooded, and many are in remote locations at some distance from volunteer fire departments.” “On behalf of the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the devoted paid and volunteer Fire Service members across Nova Scotia,” adds Mayor Bolivar-Getson. “Their unwavering commitment and selfless dedication in safeguarding lives and property deserve recognition and commendation.”
