In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

I'm listening to Chapter 11 of "Swan Song" by @cspencer1508 and I'm heartbroken at his description of Princess Diana attending five years of an elite boarding school with absolutely no intervention offered to help her succeed academically. That was an absolute travesty. 😭

The power of campus journalism strikes again. 👏
Absolutely beyond parody. Dartmouth’s provost has been turning in 70-100-percent AI-written work (in academic journals, newspapers, and even in email correspondence!) since LLMs came out, the student paper reports. He even used AI to write an op-ed about how universities are dealing with AI cheating.

Charley, my son with autism, has talked for years about going to the Eiffel Tower. The hitch has been that travel is hard for him. On our last flight, he unleashed a geyser of vomit and got yelled at by a man across the aisle. That experience stuck.

Beef, and where it's raised, has been on my mind this weekend. I want to feed my family healthy food. I want to know where that food comes from. I want it to be locally sourced. I want American farmers to not be subject to the constant threat of bankruptcy.

My neighborhood food co-op has relationships in place with local ranchers, but the co-op prices are steep. That's why I normally shop at my local Kroger store, But now, I'll probably cut back on the amount of beef I cook by 50% and prioritize buying it from the co-op.

I want to know for sure that I'm supporting American farmers and feeding my family a high-quality product. This is why we need country-of-origin labeling on meat.

I’d like to have Country Of Origin Labels back on beef so everyone can make their own informed choices.

🐋 Orcas from the pier! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. A viewer captured this incredible video of a pod of orcas swimming past the Edmonds Fishing Pier on Monday afternoon. I'm at the point where I'm ready to get rid of all of my Alexa devices because the Alexa+ update is so bad and creepy. It's too chatty, keeps trying to find out my name, and it listens in and contributes to conversations unprompted. Alexa Plus is intrusive.

It’s amazing to me how little even people in education know about the new SAT. It’s online and adaptive, meaning students literally get different tests. The longest reading passages are just 120 words. Analogies, once a crucial way to test a student’s ability to think relationally and connect ideas, are completely gone. Founding documents are gone as well, and the test is Common Core aligned. This is not your parents’ SAT. It’s not even the SAT from a few years ago.
