We are pleased to host a giveaway of the middle grade novel, THE HAUNTING OF WALKER POND by @NancyTandon (Aladdin).
To enter, L + RP and confirm your entry in our Friday weekly update: kidlit411.com/2026/07/the-we…
Thank you @AmericanAir for allowing us to sleep 1 hour 45 min. before having to return to Ohare to try and get our luggage. Fingers crossed we can get it before you send it to San Francisco without us.
Did I mention @AmericanAir that we have to pay to go to the airport and back to the hotel to pick up my bag that you assured me I would have at the end of my flight? We have nothing better to do with our time anyway.
You @AmericanAir give me a $12 voucher to get something to eat. Isn’t that nice? Then I realize that everything is closed and the voucher expires before you can get me on a flight. I hope the paper tastes good.
Shame on @AmericanAir. You need to treat customers better. Our flight was cancelled due to your mechanical issues and you can’t get our luggage until six am. Your staff made me check my carry-on where I intentionally put my medication and clothing. I did everything right.

We hope the good people of #SanFrancisco will forgive us for adapting a song about their city in 1967 to address the shocking and tragic events in #Minnesota in recent weeks. This is dedicated to Renée Good and Alex Pretti, and in solidarity. Our version is called "Minnesota" ❤️

FREEDOM RINGS: 104-year-old World War II veteran Dominick Critelli, who fought at Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge, wowed the crowd by performing the National Anthem on his saxophone at a New York Islanders game.
Critelli, a staff sergeant who immigrated to the U.S. from Italy when he was a child, spent 151 days in combat during World War II, earning three Bronze Stars.
It was wonderful meeting you this afternoon, @zakchamp. Thank you for taking time to chat with me. I look forward to talking with you again in the near future.
The Merrifield Team enjoyed speaking with Dr. Johan Marais to learn about the wonderful work he is doing to help rhinos that have been injured by poachers. We look forward to talking with him again soon. Thanks @ReachtheWorldco for making this possible.

Students work hardest for teachers who believe in them, support them, and genuinely care. Adults are no different. That’s why it’s always relationships before rigor.

Our job is to teach the students we have. Not the ones we would like to have.
Not the ones we used to have.
Those we have right now.
All of them.

Thank you @chelliepingree for hosting a virtual town hall. It felt good knowing you understand that part of your job is listening/responding to constituents. It was great hearing your thoughts live. Wonder when @SenAngusKing, @SenatorCollins, and @RepGolden will do the same?
Thank you, Daniel Geary, for sharing your passion and wealth of knowledge about the frogfish with the Merrifield Team this afternoon. Who knew that the frogfish has such interesting adaptations?
The Merrifield Team enjoyed their time with @VictorVescovo, the 1st explorer to reach both the top of all the continents and the bottom of all the oceans. It was another reminder of the importance of having a growth mindset. Thanks @EBTSOYP for organizing.
You know you work with special ppl when they throw you a #QueenOfVersailles b-day party. They had it all... a dead lizard, a stuffed dog, and chicken nuggets delivered for lunch. I am so blessed to work with such amazing ppl. All that was missing was @KChenoweth.
The Merrifield Team was inspired hearing @Hari_BudhaMagar describe the challenges he overcame to become the 1st double above the knee amputee to summit Everest. Thanks for reminding us of the importance of never giving up! @EBTSOYP
An item on my bucket list was checked off this afternoon when I got to see @KChenoweth sing. I am going to sleep with a smile on my face! Maybe someday this teacher will be lucky enough to meet her. #QueenOfVersailles
