I feel like there's ONE piece of advice I want to give people who want to create interactive meetings/sessions (esp online, but even f2f) and it's to harness those first 5-10 minutes by giving people an opportunity to interact and be themselves, not focusing them on yourself

Worst piece of advice I ever heard as an educator was to be “really strict” on the first days of school. It sent the completely wrong message to my students. Build rapport with students before telling them what to do. Otherwise, they won’t buy-in.

All my student desks have check in and check out QR codes and feel wheels! We need to know how our Ss are doing when they walk in and out. As an adult there are times struggle with explaining my feelings, Ss do too. The feel wheel helps! – at Lombard, IL
