Howdy! It's time for the wild west! (Or I guess South?) 馃
Calling back to Clint Eastwood, Dallas Cowboys (and Longhorns), and @AshleyMDesign for brainstormin with me.
There are two references: one is from a game and the other is from a painting.
Did anyone catch them? 馃憖
Also, in case you guys didn't see, we are officially closing doors to @YFPCOD.
I didn't speak to the players personally, but I did spend time with @CopyPP and @byohzrd who were nothing but kind and welcoming to me so I want to give a shoutout to them first for their guidance and helping hands.
Next is I am truly sorry that we are closing doors since I do believe everyone should have a home. So I want to shoutout to our players and coach in hopes that someone will see this and give them a new home.
@7Dak_ @CruzeeyCOD @Mamba10x @8Whiz @Rixsrr
Thank you guys for being part of YFP and I hope the best for you! 鈽猴笍
Fanart Friday 馃帹
I know this isn't the usual style of design for @Sentinels fan art, but I really wanted to embrace the DeviantArt and early 2011-2013 style and philosophies of "we want to share moments"

What's one of your horror worthy client stories?馃槺
I'll start:
My client politely requested that my team and I, for his rebrand, use the font Papyrus.
Getting a job in the field, esp. when you've got less than 5 years of experience often means taking whatever job is offered to you for portfolio, money, and your resume.
Small companies don't have the budget to hire multiple people for various roles: each person has to wear multiple hats.
Large companies often have the capital to hire staff that specialize in their given role. But to get to a large company, you need to start off in a small one. You may find yourself burnt out at the end of the day, or you may thrive and realize what you thought was your end goal isn't actually that.
Companies first, and foremost, will always axe the creative staff before any other role. And they forget that it can be hard to keep a business alive when it isn't advertised. People need to see, to hear, about your business to know it's still functioning. They need a reminder in the back of their head telling them: "buy me" or "come here and stay a while".
So, while companies may often undervalue marketing, it is up to us, as designers, artists, marketers, etc. to bridge that gap for them. We are important.
Being a graphic designer can be painful. It means wearing the hat of a designer, a social media manager, a video editor, Motion designer, art director, and more in most instances. And those roles are often a 2 (or I guess 20) way street.
And we all know it is too much.
What do you guys think of the 2011-2013 Tumblr Era? How would you summarize it?
In my experience, it was a time where we wanted to showcase moments: a blend of design, photography, and art.
So here's a design from back then! Except this time it's for @ValorantEsports 馃槉
Honestly, I miss 2011-2013 design era.
When I first joined Zenigma, I spent a lot of time pursing that DeviantArt style for Twitter banners.
And honestly? These were way more fun to make than match day or result graphics.
Who doesn't like a good Twitter banner here and there? 馃槒
I don鈥檛 design banners as often these days since they鈥檙e not in high demand at @YFP_gg, but back at @DesMoinesDMG, I was making them all the time for staff鈥攕ame for friends too.
Being an esports designer doesn't mean you're only doing match days and results. 馃檮
It often includes things like announcement graphics, welcome graphics, and some things that won't necessarily be seen by the public (i.e. pitch decks).

Fan Art Friday馃帹
I wanted to make a series of graphics for each team. Ran out of time this week and only had a chance to make one for @Cloud9, but that just means more C9 stuff later!
Inspired by their doodles+2013 DeviantArt style.
And yes, I custom made the doodles 馃槄
I wouldn鈥檛 call any work in this thread this my best work (maybe not even good work if I'm honest), but it's a reminder to everyone that we all have to start somewhere.
Zenigma, later rebranded as Des Moines DMG, gave me my start in esports.
And besides DMG, we ended up rebuilding Zenigma's brand so we could have multiple teams in the same game.
And when we considered a final stand, I created these graphics. Unfortunately, we had to close our doors beforehand.
And this was around the time that @neemamahmoodi picked me up and I joined @YFP_gg , my current home 馃グ
