It is the responsibility of the Ethiopian government to bring the perpetrators to justice and take meaningful preventive measures to ensure that such atrocities are not repeated. Civilians should be able to live without fear of being killed or targeted by any armed groups because of their religious beliefs.
The United States is deeply concerned about recent reports of targeted killings of civilians in Arsi zone, Oromia region, Ethiopia. The United States condemns religious, ethnic, or political motivated violence. Such horrific attacks against any group must stop. As we seek to understand this tragedy, the United States urges against characterizations that could deepen division. The United States calls on the government of Ethiopia to investigate and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
My honest opinion is that Eritreans have great potential to build their country and transform it into an economic power. #Eritreaโs geography is well suited for business, tourism, and both foreign and domestic investment. However, none of this will be possible as long as Isaias remains in power.
Eritrea needs a young, capable, energetic, and open-minded leader who is willing to cooperate with neighboring countries for mutual development and prosperity. The interests of Eritreans should not revolve solely around destabilizing #Ethiopia. Their priority should be what benefits Eritrea and its people.
Eritrea deserves better than more than 30 years of stagnation and zero meaningful progress across all sectors.
โWe don't come from the vantage point of Eritrea & Eritrean interestsโ
As the president of Eritrea, why would u even care about the interests of others over your own? With all due respect, Mr. President, this is completely unacceptable & reflects misplaced priorities.

#Eritrea: UN experts call for end to decades of arbitrary detention & enforced disappearances. โIn hundreds of cases, fate and whereabouts of persons deprived of their liberty remain unknown, inflicting anguish on families & communities.โ

Tomorrow, Eritreaโs regime will Chair the U.N. Human Rights Councilโs 2026 Social Forum.
Eritreaโs credentials:
๐ช๐ท No elections
๐ช๐ท Rape and torture
๐ช๐ท Forced labor and slavery
๐ช๐ท Jails critics and journalists
๐ช๐ท Known as โthe North Korea of Africaโ
Time is a dictatorโs worst nightmare! They may try to cling to power for as long as possible, but their time shall pass. The people of #Eritrea will be free one day, and when that day comes, they will be shocked to discover how much their country has fallen behind the rest of the world under this regime. Zero progress since 1993!
I donโt see anything wrong with the picture. I donโt think he was interested in whatever President Putin was showing them! Even if he was interested, he clearly couldnโt afford it, so why waste time? Eritrea is doing just fine with whatever 1990s Ethiopian technology left them!
๐จFor #Eritreans watching this, the shame must be unimaginably painful.
Look at him. Sad
One of the challenges facing African countries that continue to struggle with armed rebellions and internal conflicts is insufficient military capability and strength. Small groups here and there can organize themselves, take up arms, and wage war against an entire country. However, a country with strong military capabilities can maintain internal stability and easily deter threats, allowing it to focus more on challenges posed by regional and global powers rather than internal armed groups.
I hope Ethiopia will reach that level of military capability and strength at some point. This is a positive step, and such capabilities should be used to protect Ethiopiaโs sovereignty and territorial integrity, maintain peace and stability, and safeguard its citizensโnot to oppress or target its own people.
May God bless Ethiopia ๐ช๐น
Our comprehensive efforts to sustainably ensure our country's peace and security have reached a new milestone today. The state of readiness being built within Ethiopia's defense forces is endowing the nation with the capability to preemptively deter aggression.
In accordance with our prior agreement with the Russian government, we have today taken delivery of the first twelve Su-35 4++ Generation fighter jets. Additionally, Ethiopia will receive four S-400 air defense system batteries.
I would like to express my gratitude to my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his dedication in ensuring we received these warplanes a year ahead of our agreed schedule. By equipping itself with these fighter jets, Ethiopia has taken the lead among Sub-Saharan African nations.
This historic achievement further strengthens our nation's sovereignty, and it will serve as a massive capability boost that allows us to confidently continue our journey toward ensuring our collective security and regional stability in the future.

Attacks kill at least 60 Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia, church says trib.al/UBe2DvV
I am glad that the Ethiopian federal government intervened and helped calm the conflict between regional militias from Oromia and the Somali regions in #Moyale.
Land disputes can and should be resolved peacefully through dialogue. Every Ethiopian should have the right to live anywhere in the country and feel a genuine sense of belonging. Sadly, we have an Ethiopia where some Ethiopians feel and are treated like outsiders in their own country.
We must work together to address this problem while respecting regional boundaries and recognizing the rights and interests of Indigenous communities. Ethiopia belongs to all of us!

We will continue to lead with strength to protect religious liberty around the world.
Of course, he had no regrets. But were the rest of Ethiopians consulted, given that his junta government was not even elected by the people?
Meles Zenawi in 2003: "I have no regrets about the independence of Eritrea. We took a conscious decision to halt our offensive in 2000. I have no regrets about not taking Assab or Massawa."

Ethiopia has enough internal problems without adding major religious conflict to the list. Would be awful for country's reputation to have inter-religious fighting compared to Nigeria's historic Muslim herder-on-Christian farmer violence. Stop it!

The continued targeted attacks against Christians in Ethiopia are completely unacceptable.
All parties to the conflict need to take steps to ensure that Christians and all people of faith are protected from this violence and that the perpetrators are punished.
