I’m hearing a lot of shit-talking about the ’80s out there, pal. Let me tell you something: there’s a reason I never left and there’s a reason you all keep coming back. The ’80s kicked ass. The music. The cars. The clothes. The nightlife. The attitude. The movies. The television. The neon. The excess. The danger. The freedom. The fact that everybody wasn’t staring into a damn phone every five seconds. You went out. You met people. You stayed out too late. You blasted music way too loud. You drove around with nowhere to go because the ride itself was the night. You had real characters, real style, real mystery, and enough bad decisions to keep things interesting. It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t safe. It wasn’t trying to please everybody. That was the point. And here’s the funniest part….you can talk all the shit you want about the decade, but you’re still wearing the clothes, remixing the music, rebooting the movies, copying the cars, stealing the aesthetic, and chasing the same vibe 40 years later. So yeah, pal. There’s a reason I never left. Anybody trashing the ’80s is either brain-dead, never experienced it, an absolute vibe killer, or just too much of a pussy to know how to have a good time. And on that note, your favorite fictional ’80s TV detective says… I’ll see you out there, pal. 🌴😎

Eleven days ago, I sat down with Johnson County Community College's record-setting baseball team to learn how they'd taken over juco ball. Tonight they won a national title after an undefeated romp through the Juco World Series. A story worth watching. youtube.com/watch?v=mbEydNKu…

Super Sky Point to Bobby Cox, who piloted the Braves to 14 division titles and a World Series triumph. Perhaps most impressively, he was ejected 161 times during his Hall of Fame career. That’s an entire season of righteous anger. Tell St. Peter to watch balls and strikes. #RIP

On this day in 1969, Led Zeppelin’s debut single “Good Times, Bad Times” hits its U.S. chart peak at #80. Despite launching the band’s recording career, the song was rarely performed live in full. In 1969, it occasionally surfaced as an intro to “Communication Breakdown,” and in 1970 at the L.A. Forum, a near-complete version appeared within that same medley—featuring a standout bass moment from John Paul Jones (captured on the Live on Blueberry Hill bootleg). Elements of the track would also pop up during “Whole Lotta Love” medleys in 1971. A legendary debut… that somehow stayed a deep cut on stage.

For the record, I’m not in favor of any temperature that looks like it should have “Scottie Scheffler” in front of it.
