Perhaps a totally nutty prediction -- I think Miz might end up doing the majority of his work in the bullpen in the NLCS. Not even totally convinced he's starting another game. If they say he's available, they'll use him. Bullpen in 3. Then bullpen in 5. And bullpen in 6/7.

Texas just tried a 52-yard FG rather than go for a 4th and 2. Let's go through this: It's less likely to make the kick than it is to make 2 yards. And the reward isn't nearly as good. Other than that, it's a great decision. What can you say?

Big changes in Denver. Sean Payton says he'll take over playcalling for the Broncos from OC Davis Webb. "We'll make a change offensively," he said. "I'll call the plays." As for Webb, Payton said: "I've done this long enough when I know when I have a future head coach. He's going to be one."

The Giants traded for J.J. McCarthy. It’s Dart for next year and beyond — in theory. Jameis Winston basically stinks. I’d give McCarthy a chance the moment it’s reasonable. This week preferably.

Sooooo many mistakes by both coaches in these last two minutes. And they are two of the best! Rams needed to call timeout after 1st play after 2:00 warning. Broncos needed to run on 2nd down at 5.

Actually, if the Broncos can get a first down and NOT a TD on the play, then it matters. But again, you can't approach play calling that way this close.

I obsess over the clock as much as anyone, but Cris Collinsworth really is ridiculous. Denver can't worry about the clock. The Rams have all their timeouts. They're going to have time no matter what. Score a TD. The clock really is insignificant.

I think the Giants would be a better team with Jimmy Garoppolo than Jameis Winston. Not sure of it, but I think it would make sense. I don't really think any of the other options that have been mentioned would be upgrades (plus they'd require a draft pick).
